  1. Yes, we've had folks complaining about his school before.
  2. A lot of it is folks didn't move down here being dedicated fans of whatever hockey team was their former home team. I don't see Islander hats, I don't see Penguin Hats, ect ect. It's a lot easier to make someone a Lightning fan if they don't have another allegiance. Before the Rays were here this area was mostly known for being the Spring Training home of the Yankees. Just yesterday I talked with a Philly fan and a Mets fan.
  3. I don't think most of the issues with Rays attendance and engagement is because of the roster churn. It's because of the stadium, the competition from the Lightning and Bucs for entertainment dollars and the transient fanbase mostly having allegiances to other teams.
  4. The Britton trade allowed the Yankees to trade some guys that would have been subjected to the 40 man crunch (Tate for example).
  5. I'd have been fine with both but I never thought that adding two impact starters was an option. I was hoping for more bullpen help.
  6. He's making a show for the media. Why would he "taunt" the O's? Who does that help? He's not a 12 year old playing fortnite.
  7. Urias and Santander are slower than Rutschman. O'Hearn is actually faster than Hays and Mountcastle. At least according to statcast sprint speed which isn't an exact analog to base stealing ability. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/sprint_speed?min_season=2024&max_season=2024&position=&team=BAL&min=10
  8. You would theoretically make more money over time by best serving your employers.
  9. What I thought was best for my client. Which would depend on what my client has told me he wants. If he wants to maximize earnings I tell him to test free agency.
  10. I'm talking about the tone. It's like they are gleeful that Cease is going through a rough patch.
  11. Folks were wanted Cease because they didn't know Burnes was an option. We knew someone needed to be added. As for what they said? I'm not sure but it seems like some sort of odd gloating post over Cease having a rough patch.
  12. When the Burnes trade happened I don't think I saw a single poster saying that would have rather had Cease. No one thought Burnes was available. This just strikes me as an odd post.
  13. Moose probably thought Mumford & Sons wrote it.
  14. Schoop signed an extension. Ultimately it's on the player.
  15. Did the decisions do it to the team or the losing? They guessed wrong and paid the pitchers. They could have guessed wrong and paid Rendon. In hindsight you can say well they should have signed player A and B those fools signed C and D instead. It isn't as if they let everyone walk. They couldn't keep everyone.
  16. Do you know how he's hitting at DH this year? How does 362/400/660 sound? Does that play at DH if he can't catch?
  17. He wasn't. He was traded to Seattle and had fewer than 1000 PA in the majors. I think the Castillo thing was a salary cap issue, while he was in the minors he didn't count against the cap. I could be wrong tho.
  18. I didn't want to go with the Davis contract, seemed too obvious.
  19. Let's be honest, this is baseball we aren't even sure he can hit. He probably can, I think he can, but you never really know until it's time. The obvious worst case scenario is Jesus Montero, had an 870 OPS in AAA at 20 (123 games).
  20. Posey caught 106 games his last season, more than Adley is on pace to catch this year. Mauer stopped catching because of brain trauma. Even when he moved off of catcher he wasn't "dead weight". Dead weight is Jose Abreu. You pointed out those two contracts as cautionary tales and I don't think they were particularly bad contracts. The McCann deal was worse than either.
  21. Yea, that's gross. Injuries suck. I'd rather beat a healthy Yankee team.
  22. Yea, he killed the Giants with his 108 OPS+ in 2018... He put up a 2.8 rWAR/2.6 fWAR season in 2018. The man had one year in which he could be considered below average. After Covid he even came back for a top 25 MVP finish year, won the SS and then bowed out gracefully. Any team would love to have that be the result of an extension. For that matter Mauer had to move off of Catcher but he never had a season in which he hurt the Twins.
  23. I think the idea is that if Basallo is first it would mean it would already be too late to extend the other two. What's the earliest you would extend Basallo?
