Even if it's TJ the turnaround for a position player should be less than a year. Unless of course they putter around and postpone the surgery for a few months. (Jasson's surgery was in September and he's off the IL)

I think the initial Machado contract was fine. When players sign those big deals and opt out...teams need to let them walk.
