I think I figured it out. This isn't about McCann, it's about Stowers. That's why he keeps mentioning him. SG wants Stowers to DH more so he's acting all upset about a replacement level backup catcher getting a half dozen more starts than he normally would because he wants Stowers to be the DH instead of Adley.

Who cares? Over the last three seasons it's second in the league behind Colorado at a 107 Park Factor. It's 100 for HR but it's also 123 for doubles and 132 for triples. Guy, I know my ERA is near six but I've been giving up doubles, not homeruns so it's OK!

I think pitchers worry a lot more about money and overall team quality. What FO in the last decade can't adjust for park effects when evaluating players? I'm sure they grouse about short walls but Boston never had trouble getting free agents to take their money.

You can make a case that it quickens innings and therefor lowers the pitcher's workload. It inhibits scoring but that's something that happens to both teams. I think wall height is about 340th on the list of things FA pitchers worry about.
