  1. And if they don't spend it all in years 3, 4 and 5?
  2. I think it is an issue if spending is being constrained. You can work as hard as everyone else but if you can only spend half of what the other teams are you won't ever catch up.
  3. I'm still in camp they can't spend all their allotted money until I see evidence otherwise. Of course they could make a couple decent signings for a lot less that their full allotment.
  4. All sorts of crazy stuff happened in the early days of organized ball. (I guess you could say someone that played in 1870 isn't on the planet) There is also the question of if the Cuban leagues count as pro ball.
  5. You are once again much more polite than I was planning on being. I will add that they could have signed at 17 if they had hit a growth spurt, no rules precluding it. I also wouldn't be shocked to find out that some of these players have already signed with, and been released from, other organizations.
  6. They might have preferred Wilkerson at this point anyway.
  7. Considering that Weight has since been DFA'd what difference does it make?
  8. The catcher is an organizational depth move. I'm sure he didn't cost anything.
  9. Still a lot of 18 and 19 year olds being signed. Very unlikely to ever make an impact. I didn't think a 26 year old counted toward International signings?
  10. Trey reminding a pitcher he took him deep earlier in the game.
  11. Eric Byrnes sets record. https://golfweek.com/2019/04/23/mlb-player-eric-byrnes-golf-record-420-holes-24-hours/
  12. Can you hack the system and choose the opposing team?
  13. Jake seems like a swell guy.
  14. Castro is worth a bit more than a win a year (rWAR doesn't include framing) and the going rate for free agent wins is about 8.5M. Three years 24.5M doesn't seem particularly out of place given his non-framing production.
  15. I think the blame should be placed at the feet of Sisco, the bat first catcher. Get a couple good glove guys that can throw and frame...
  16. I think if you had fewer pitchers that threw 95 you would have less strikeouts and that would lead to more homeruns. I'd like robo-umps.
  17. He's 28 and it's his fifth year in the league. Including his strong start this year his career rWAR is .7. Can't you just be happy he's doing well?
  18. But jucing the ball leads to more walks and strikouts and fewer balls in play.
  19. The allowances they have in place allow for a significant amount of change in flight dynamics.
  20. Not going to happen. They are not going to let OPACY sit empty. MLB teams rarely move and Baltimore isn't at the top of the list of franchises with attendance issues.
