#50THANNIVERSARY The Orioles returned to Memorial Stadium on this day in 1970 and played host to the Minnesota Twins. The Birds won by a score of 9-3 behind the combined effort of Dave McNally (5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 7 K) and Dick Hall (3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 K). McNally improved to 4-1 on the season while Hall was credited with his first save. Terry Crowley led the offense with a 2 for 4, 2 run scored, 3 RBI day. Crowley also hit his first homerun of the year. Dave May's 7th inning triple cleared the bases and helped break the game open. BOX SCORE

Pete Richert recorded his first save of the young season. A four-run bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the difference for the Birds. Pinch hitter Terry Crowley started the rally with a double before Frank Robinson, Paul Blair and Brooks Robinson combined to knock in all 4 runs. The Birds won by a score of 13-1 behind a third consecutive complete game effort. Tom Phoebus allowed just 2 hits while walking 4 and striking out 4. He helped his own cause by going 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI. The lone run Phoebus allowed was on a 9th inning homerun off of the bat of Vada Pinson. Paul Blair went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored while Don Buford homered twice (5 RBI on the day) and Boog Powell and Davey Johnson each hit homeruns as well. BOX SCORE
