The Birds won by a score of 9-3 behind the combined effort of Dave McNally (5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 7 K) and Dick Hall (3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 K). McNally improved to 4-1 on the season while Hall was credited with his first save. Terry Crowley led the offense with a 2 for 4, 2 run scored, 3 RBI day. Pete Richert recorded his first save of the young season. A four-run bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the difference for the Birds. Pinch hitter Terry Crowley started the rally with a double before Frank Robinson, Paul Blair and Brooks Robinson combined to knock in all 4 runs.
