  1. There’s an element of Joe Buck to him, sure, but I don’t think that’s entirely fair, especially as a negative. He’s a much goofier guy, and in that respect less polished. I’ve never felt like I know who Buck is, but Kevin I’ve got a pretty good idea.
  2. Just for fun, what if he comes up and hits, who goes down when Hays is ready? What if Holliday has turned it around by then, too?
  3. Not that it matters but I have him at 2-21 with 12K’s prior to 4/21 at 11AM when the tweet was tweeted. Yankees can’t love the knowledge that their 6’7” $360M man has a toe that is going to require constant maintenance and treatment the rest of his career. Sure wish he had been on a different team and I could root for him.
  4. Pretty impressive that as much as he has struggled he isn’t really chasing pitches. The balls he put in play were in hittable locations. Watched 3rd strike was a disappointing end to an otherwise good at bat. I figure he’s got another week of this failure to get it right.
  5. Insane hindsight bias to say he was called up too early. You didn’t think he should make the team out of spring? What did you want to see him do in the minors to prove he was ready?
  6. I mean he can’t be a guess hitter and succeed as much and as quickly as he did in the minors right? He was certainly guessing there tho, no doubt about it.
  7. I’m a little surprised Tony is in the field today, looked dinged up towards the end of the game yesterday getting up slowly from both his slide into second and his diving catch.
  8. See! Now it’s a better story for Kimbrel. Great job, kid!
  9. I think Tony is getting the day off tomorrow. Got up slowly after the slide too. Great game.
  10. Why do you think he doesn’t realize this already? He frequently brings up players college histories when Ben is on.
  11. Why does it matter where the distribution of lefties comes from? With two switch hitters, two/three full time left handed batters and a platoon lefty I think we’re fine there.
  12. I was surprised it was that low. Mullins might have exceeded it without the injuries. More critical than the good might have been the only 5 guys totally 93 plate appearances in negative WAR.
  13. I sent my obligatory annual email complaining about concessions after the game Friday night. Two stands had run out of Italian sausages and one of brats by the 4th inning, but neither let you know until you got to the front after waiting for 5 min in line. Concessions management has been pathetic since the pandemic.
  14. I guess I was confused by the fact that it was clearly over the front wall, the player doesn’t have the “right” to the ball at that point, correct?
  15. What was that review all about? At the game so didn’t have benefit of all the replays, was there a thought that the fan was out over the field wall? Looked like Buxton was upset with the fan.
  16. His 2nd and 3rd at bats tonight were good. Good contact on the line out. I’d like him to attack more, but it’s pretty remarkable looking at the pitch locations he’s seeing, it seems like they are all on the black. The couple that have been fully over the plate he has fouled off or made contact on.
  17. And I’m pretty sure he was on the bench most of that game. Came on in the 7th or 8th as I recall.
  18. Does Statcast account for positioning at the time the ball was hit? Sounds like he was shaded towards RCF a bit.
  19. For the record, I don’t think his swing is broken, and he’s very much in the adjustment window. There is also enough information by now to get a rough idea on how he is being pitched that he can look for pitches and spots. I was only noting that if this continues for another 30+ at bats, his swing likely will be broken. All to say that nobody is above being sent back if that’s what it takes.
  20. No doubt, but at some point you get out of wack, your swing and confidence are gone and you need to get it back. Grayson didn’t really have anything to prove against AAA competition last year. Same with Cowser to a lesser extent. They just needed to get right.
  21. I’d think if Holliday gets to somewhere between 30-50 at bats and is hitting under .100, they’d have to think about giving him that reset.
  22. I thought the same about the national broadcast bit. Hopefully that grows over time. I like the radio guys to have an interesting voice or delivery, something both Hollander and Arnold have. Wagner is a bit of a straight man, though he seems good at his job.
  23. Nobody is going to boo the number one prospect after his first 4 games. They wouldn’t even do that in Philly.
  24. Why not? Our bullpen has been crushed the last few days. If he gets out of this less than 90 he should be back out there.
  25. I think I saw burgers for $22 on Friday so $20 wouldn’t surprise me. The Charleston Riverdogs had a great dog that was very similar looking for $10 back in 2015 when I was down there. Well worth it.
