Good, sounds like you understand part of it.

Even the optimists have to start realizing the season is over
Wrong. And for the record, it doesn’t take being optimistic, it takes understanding that baseball is a sport of swings in momentum and patience.

Hilarious that people WANT to go to the bullpen. So inconsistent.

Uhh, I’m pretty sure Judge has lost the most homers?

This isn’t a playoff team. Very well possible they don’t make it. I’d take the Royals, Twins, and Red Sox current roster over this disaster class.
Why do you keep saying this

You do realize that we have played .450 ball for the past 53 games. Over 1/3 of a full season. If we play .450 ball the rest of the way we would win 16 more games (89 wins). It’s not that far fetched, and in fact I’d argue it should be expected that we will not win 90. Hope we do, but it would take playing much better baseball than we have since mid June. And we are more decimated by injuries now. Not sure 53 games is a “down period”
I mean, to be fair, it wouldn't require playing "much better." We're talking about a 1 win difference.

Unreal. Cleveland can't score with runners on 2 and 3rd no out after Kwan strikes out on a 57 footer and a double play.

What are the chances Hyde still sends Cano out

I’m thinking Holliday needs a day off and Gunnar needs a break from SS.
Start Soto at SS tomorrow and move Gunnar to 2nd?
Lol. Did you see Gunnar at 2nd before?

Great EV tho

Lets see some 9 hole production here

When are you going to try and get Soto and Kimbrel right if not up 7-1

says 30 games
He hasn't been back for 30 games so that counts all his 0 fors prior to being sent back

Great defense by arguably the best catcher in baseball

Yeah, I had the over so I’d pass and take my chances!

Hopefully we saw a little preview of Akin’s baby bump last night and he goes on an Orel Hershiser run to end the season.

15 bad calls. 13 in the Mets favor. If we are keeping track.
I think despite the stats, that this team looks like it has little momentum and just feels a little listless.
Wow no kidding. I was probably being a little forgiving, but didn’t think it was that off. That’s pretty striking.

To wit- since the all star break, runs allowed in losses have been:
3,6,6,6,9,8,10,8,5,7,2,9,12,5,4
What does that prove? I’m not sure, but I’d be really happy if my team were scoring that and not so happy if they were giving it up.

Here's some interesting numbers for you numbers people...
Run differential in the last 50 games:
Orioles: -29
Astros: +68
Ah yes, run differential, that classic offense only stat.

And the umpire was very one sided with his calls. Kind of hard to hit when pitches way off the plate are called strikes.
He may have slightly favored the Mets, but I thought he was pretty off on both sides. Either way, hard to hit with a zone like that.

He’s not wrong. Kid has all the promise in the world. Excellent defender, framer, has a ton of pop, super young.
Hang on, he’s he is wrong. He didn’t say promise he said “you can make a case he is the best in the game.” No you can’t. Could he be? Maybe. But so could Adley and frankly he is a lot closer.

I’ll accept it when the season is over. I’ve watched enough baseball to know that there is plenty of time for things to change.
