  1. I think it just makes more sense to use a guy who only threw 8 pitches and looked dominant. You already spent the effort to warm him up, he's right there, you know he's effective tonight, and he probably can give you 15 pitches without seriously taxing his arm. If he falls apart, you can pull him early because he doesn't have to face 3 batters. I don't see what disadvantage there is to bringing in Soto for the 9th. If he dominates, you don't have to warm anyone else. If he struggles, you have to bring someone else in anyway, but the chance of him struggling after an amazing 8-pitch inning is lower than your average reliever.
  2. You know the rules. A pitcher is physically prohibited from recording more than 3 outs, unless they are the starter. These are the rules of baseball. Look! It's written right here in Brandon Hyde's copy of the rules! *shows you Hyde's rulebook* ... Oh, what's that you say? That's not an actual rule, but just something Brandon Hyde made up? ... Huh. Someone tell him that.
  3. Who is this guy Bowman and why is he on my team? Send him wherever Kimbrel went.
  4. The two-strike noise is from Star Wars. It's commonly used as a warning klaxon when the ship is under attack or fighters/shuttles are entering or exiting a cargo bay. That much I know. They use the heck out of it in Star Wars: The Old Republic video game too.
  5. Man it's such a drag that guys like Felix Bautista and Grayson won't be in the playoffs for us. I guess you don't want to rush pitchers back.
  6. lol the Yankees are basically guaranteed to win the AL East and they have boo birds booing a pitcher who is having a bad night. I hope Stroman lays an egg in the playoffs for those entitled fans.
  7. The guys who helped us win in the first half coming back in time for the playoffs might move the needle for us having a successful playoff run (winning the WC). But we really need our starters and ideally Bautista.
  8. I am embarrassed to be part of that “sellout crowd”. Not a single cheer besides a few in my section for Gunnar’s last AB. Like people are afraid to stand up and cheer for their team anymore? What???? It’s the last home game of the season. Why won’t people cheer them on? I’ve heard it louder with 8000 there:
  9. Hard to say. Starters have proven unreliable overall when suddenly thrust into a bullpen role.
  10. Bad game, Suarez. Nothing to write home about. 4 runs all earned, 5+ IP. If we could sync up our pitching and hitting on the days where they’re good and bad, we’d win 100 games I swear to god. instead we have terrible pitching when our hitting figures it out, and lose a slugfest. And when our batters are lost, our SP throws a pointless gem and we lose by a low score. So fed up with it.
  11. Very funny, but I only leave early if we’re down by 5+ in the 8th or like 10+ earlier.
  12. That’s what we needed, baby!!!!!!!!!!! Good old Roy Reversal! THANK YOU!!! Signed, 43000+ at the park (including me)
  13. The young fan who went out on the field to steal second base did more than our entire team will do this entire game.
  14. Too patient. Didn’t think I’d say that but that’s what it seems to be. Different symptom of the same problem as all the Called Strikes I keep complaining about. We watch both good and bad pitches sail on by way too often.
  15. Our Kryptonite is league average or better pitching. We clobber bad pitching sometimes, but any league average or better pitcher looks like Cy Young’s career year vs us. Many other contending teams find a way to eke out some runs even against elite pitching. We do not.
  16. No clinch today and 43000+ of us here at the park get to go home early when it’s 7-0 DET in the 7th
  17. Well, I’m here, but I know how this rodeo goes. 2-0 in the second we’re usually toast.
  18. Burnes may want to call it done here instead of coming back to walk the bases loaded.
  19. Burnes has looked excellent ever since the last out of the first inning. A little shaky to start with some pitches missing. After that, he seems to only throw a ball when it’s deliberate to throw off the batter.
  20. I’m sitting in 222 and I tell you your Apple TV is working just fine.
  21. We’re doing the “live” part of “live by the home run, die by the home run” tonight!
