  1. Did someone actually propose Mateo as a centerpiece in a trade? And as another poster said, you’re undervaluing him. Heck, the Dodgers signed Chris Taylor, who has a similar skill set (except for speed) to multi year deal, but at the time no one thought it was an awful deal.
  2. You track your wins/losses? What’s your percentage?
  3. Ah, yes, but life is risk. Without any risk, there is at best limited reward. You say adventure, I say gamble, or risk. The risk assessment is what determines the choices we make. "Do I ask her out and risk rejection?" It's your choice, but don't do it. She'll break your head! Yes, head, not heart. Kidding, of course.
  4. Even Wieters at 5 wasn't necessarily a bad pick. He didn't work out like the projections had him, but he had a few good years.
  5. Agree, and it seemed less glaring last year, but since the defense is also not sustainable it's exceptionally glaring this year.
  6. Kidding aside, I did place a small wager on them to win it all. Other than that, no.
  7. You gamble every day on a variety of things. Calculated assumptions based on evidence of a life lived. Then again, I may be rationalizing my obsession with gambling.
  8. Is there something wrong with Adley? I've seen a lot of speculation, but nothing substantive. If so, you're right. Stowers, I mean Kjerstad, needs regular ABs.
  9. Yep, got my popcorn ready, sitting in my "deck chair".
  10. Lol, I thought this was a stat of which I was unaware. "His" record is what is still recorded as a win, but his ERA (if that's what you choose) shows the bigger picture. I don't know if they're breaking out tonight, but I like their chances.
  11. On what are you basing your statement? I don't necessarily disagree, but he could also be packaged with another prospect/MLB player. Not a bad comp except for the speed which is a big part of Mateo's value. He can create havoc on the basepaths and arguably would have more stolen bases if he played more. Then again, his bat may be exposed if that happened.
  12. True enough, but neck discomfort isn't a major worry. Although, at his age the next injury might be coming quick, but I’ve always liked him especially come playoff time.
  13. Don’t go bringing facts into this!
  14. Eh, no. Gunnar is fine. Every player goes through periods of adjustments and just the fact that he figured out LH pitching in less than a year speaks volumes. He may very well shaking his head in disappointment, but in either case there has been more than one instance of him taking an outer third last pitch strike. He’s a superior player who’s playing at a consistently high level. My comments were in no way meant to treat him down.
  15. The defense wasn’t great, but yes.
  16. So, I love Mullins and that catch earlier this year was one of the best I’ve ever seen, but that’s the ball where his fear of the wall comes into play.
  17. Same guy who whined about the wall last year.
  18. Conversely, if Mullins doesn't (the most likely of those three NOT to return to career norms) can we afford to carry him? Crap, here comes a thread on THAT!
  19. It's a nice thought experiment. Not sure they'd want to give up on Kirby either. They are in first place and pitching is more valuable come playoff time.
  20. That was my thought when I read your post, but it's a big drop off defensively unless Mayo can play capably there. Any reports on his defense of late? His at 1B exclusively now?
