  1. That was the meddling owner’s decision.
  2. Yeah, your thought process is so complex I can’t follow. And with all the excitement you’ve started with this topic I’m over the moon!
  3. It's hilarious to me that this team's pitching often is under the microscope. They've performed very well considering little Bradish, Means and no Wells.
  4. Don't knock ketamine. Have you tried it? I hear good things.
  5. How so? Qualify it all you want, but the trade was made. To me, I'd rather have the guy who makes the right deal, not just the first available deal. And I'm fine with them not being able to outbid the higher market teams, keeps them out of ugly contracts. It doesn't mean Elias is without means to compete, just look how competitive TB has been for years in a smaller? market.
  6. See, that kind of thinking is what I'm talking about!
  7. I get that, but there's little evidence to support pitch limits in games or for the season correlates to injury prevention. If I was him I'd be concerned for my health, too. It's a reasonable position. Again, he's not the only guy available.
  8. Yup, so another reason to move on from the idea. Mainly, though, I'd say it's because of the WSox unrealistic expected return. I'm sure Crochet could be convinced with a championship possibility. I'm not surprised players (and/or their agents) are now determining factors like pitch limits, MLB has basically been spinning that for years, yet pitchers rarely throw over 100 pitches and there's more injuries than ever before.
  9. Scherzer is a guy who could push them over the top in the PS. Burnes is leaving at the end of the year, yet they traded for him to be the ace of the staff. Max has been there before and the Rangers are looking like they're beyond a WC spot. His recent injury history concerns me. Does no good if they count on him to be a starter and his back (or something else that pops up) starts giving him problems. The stuff, though, still plays.
  10. Lol, oh, I didn't say I agree with it, but the Orioles aren't that different from other teams and I certainly think that factors into his risk profile if he's a consideration.
  11. Adley has nothing to do with trading Basallo to upgrade the rotation, but their future plans may factor into the decision making. I'd love to have him as the backup, but do you see him as an everyday player? Then, eventually their plans for AR will have something to do with it. Even if they plug him in as the backup his bat needs to be in the lineup if he continues progressing. I don't like idea of trading some of their higher rated prospects either, certainly not Basallo. However, unless they make some kind of move (again, not Crochet) to solidify the rotation or Povich really exceeds his projected ceiling they're gonna need help.
  12. His innings cap and their asking price makes it look like a "no". I definitely like the guy's stuff.
  13. I'll be really disappointed if Watkins is even considered as any other option than AAA depth.
  14. Would you trade him for the right piece (not Crochet)? And is the thought behind him being "untouchable" because even with new ownership there is no thought to extending AR, therefore they need to hang onto SB because eventually they'll need another catcher from the system? So many questions.
  15. Grow the bats, buy (or trade for) the arms.
  16. Because all of the five they already have are doing so well? I like Irvin, but he seems like the odd man out after three or four ho-hum starts. Even Suarez looked shaky before his last start. Kremer will be a nice addition, but I still see him as a 4/5 in the rotation. I think Povich stays, but his stuff isn't overpowering and he has to command his offerings to have success much like Irvin who isn't right now. Irvin can go back to the pen as long guy, but if they are really serious about contending for a WS it's vital to upgrade the rotation. McDermott may have better stuff than Povich, but not the command and is there really anyone else down there who would be impactful?
  17. That was exactly my point in asking the question. People think his first stretch in MLB determines who he will be going forward. That sample size is ridiculously small.
  18. Garcia is an out if Kimbrel can throw his slider for a strike.
  19. Eh, he also hit one out tonight?
  20. Last pitch was a strike.
  21. A walk doesn't hurt them here.
