  1. Why, he hasn't been any good since 2019. No need to waste a roster spot on a downgrade.
  2. I think this off season would be the perfect time to move Mateo, can't see his value getting much higher. I prefer Ortiz as SS over Henderson, and he should hit much better than Mateo. Next season I'd like to see an infield of Mountcastle 1B, Norby 2B, Ortiz SS and Henderson at 3B, with Urias as the utility guy, Westburg could also fill that role or 2B at some point, although I don't think he's anywhere near Henderson or Ortiz defensively.
  3. I be joining you in asking for a hit if someone told me we'd win 83 games in March. With the strength of the remaining schedule if we can win 29 or more of those games it will be a super fun end of the season.
  4. Glad you reconsidered and decided to stay. Thank you for all you do, this is an amazing community.
  5. I'm gonna say 1 mostly with a little bit of 3 as well. I just don't think the return was good enough, that may be the case with more than Santander as well.
  6. Finish strong. After the Pittsburgh series the rest of August is gonna be tough, with every team we play either ahead of us in the standings or .5 behind us, with the makeup game vs the Cubs in there as well. If we can stay close to .500 and avoid any long losing streaks I'll consider the season a success. The wild card and anything beyond would be a nice cherry on top of the season. I'd like to see Hays and Mountcastle heat up and be more consistent, Santander stay healthy all season, and how many doubles will Adley end up with. How much will we see of Vavra, Diaz and hopefully Stowers. Pitching, can they keep it up? How will Bautista handle the closer role, and who steps up in the pen to fill the spot opened with the Lopez trade, will it be Vespi, Gillaspie or someone else. Should be a fun last 2 months of the season.
  7. At least it was only for cash considerations. There's gotta be a bigger deal coming, makes no sense to add Phillips.
  8. Bautista could very well regress too, happens all the time with relievers, I'd be fine moving him in the right deal as well.
  9. We'll have to disagree on this. Yes it's possible he turned a corner, but it's also possible he's just pitched out of his mind the first half. I'm not thrilled with the return, but ok with moving Lopez because I'm not convinced he'd keep up the first half performance.
  10. Looks like they pretty much gutted the farm. Gore, Abrams, Hassell, Wood & Susana. I seen another ML piece as well, but haven't seen a name yet.
  11. His track record before this season absolutely means something, he was not good, at all. If you take away this season he still only started 14 games more in his career than coming in relief. Maybe being focused on only relieving has helped, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep about losing Lopez, he's replaceable.
  12. I gotta agree with you on this. Yes it sucks losing these guys while we're playing well and in the middle of the wild card race, but I'm glad Elias is sticking to the game plan. I'd much rather have this team set up to be competitive the next 5-10 years than roll the dice this year hoping for a wild card.
  13. It's an underwhelming trade, but there is definitely reason to think Lopez won't fall off a cliff. His track record before this season isn't good, even though that was mostly as a starter. I would have liked to have gotten more for him but if this is all we could get after an all star appearance, I can't see his value getting much higher unfortunately.
  14. I guess it's the TJ surgery that dampens the deal some for me. By the time he returns next year he'll be nearly 25. That's a big setback for a guy that still hasn't been pitching that long. Hopefully I'm wrong and he turns out to be a great return for Trey.
  15. So 2 guys who are 23 and only at high A, and one is set to have TJ surgery. I didn't expect much for Mancini on his own, and figured he'd be packaged with a reliever, but this is a pretty underwhelming return.
  16. Would much rather trade Lopez or Tate and keep Bautista
  17. Definitely more than I'd give up right now. 2 years from now I hope this is the type of trade we'd make to put us over the top.
  18. That ball was absolutely demolished though
  19. I would still move Mancini over Mountcastle this deadline, but I'd move Mountcastle if the right deal was there.
  20. I'm ok with any of the prospects you mentioned from the Mets. My only issue would be Quintana. Personally I don't have any interest in him or another rental pitcher. Yes he would help this season, but if we're giving up prospects for anyone I'd like someone with a little more control. Maybe Grenier or Blaine Knight type prospects for him, but doubt that would get the job done.
  21. Huge haul for the Reds, Marte and Arroyo. That Seattle rotation will be tough.
  22. I think Mancini alone should get a #10 and a #20-#30. Add Lopez or Tate to a deal and we should get something decent. I seen someone mention David Peterson and Mark Vientos for Mancini and Lopez, I'd take that deal if it's on the table.
  23. I agree he's worth more, but doubt the return will be significant. I hope I'm wrong and he nets a good return if he's moved.
