  1. The new meta, pitchers who are also late inning defensive replacements.
  2. Sounds like a REALLY excuse for a salary cap/revenue sharing.
  3. How else can we compete with Detroit?
  4. Can he backup 2B or 3B in a pinch? If so, that's useful.
  5. Yeah they are certainly the least of the issues.
  6. My friend just posted this on fb, this seemed like the right place for it. https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/9s3xm6/manny_machado_being_a_douchebag_compilation/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb&fbclid=IwAR312bVDPGtDaX72L-nK7dpUAGA4bNFBpovLzLhT5QUDT1tC76NXkSrJeDg&_branch_match_id=557178282966459303
  7. You would have thought Brady might tip the scales in our favor on VVM or Gaston. He could make a nice pitch, "Look if you sign with us, I will make sure you get paid in the big leagues even if you aren't that good, once this initial contract ends. Just look at what I did for Chris Davis, Darren O'Day, and Chris Tillman."
  8. Anyone want to revise their grade in lieu of the MIA Mesa signings? I think I'm almost willing to go F, but will say a D at the moment. Who knows, maybe they get Gaston?
  9. I agree for the most part. The bat throwing was the only incident as an Oriole that I really have a problem with. The play last night, however, was dirty, plain and simple. I'm glad it wasn't as an Oriole. I'm not going to try and make excuses or give him the benefit of the doubt. It clearly wasn't an accident.. it was probably a momentary split second decision that he wishes he could take back, but it was a dirty choice he made willingly.
  10. He keeps his foot on the bag a half a second too long, so people like Manny should be allowed to try and break it.. I'm sorry but I find that ludicrous.
  11. "He's a player that has a history of those types of incidents," Yelich said. "One time is an accident. Repeated over and over and over again, you're just a dirty player. It's a dirty play by a dirty player. That's what it is. I have a lot of respect for him as a player, but you can't respect someone who plays the game like that. --Christian Yelich He sums it up well. At least it wasn't in an Oriole uniform, and we'd have to watch the replay all over the news all in Orange and Black.
  12. It looks like Wade Miley is going to start game 3 for MIL on Sunday.
  13. I have a theory-- and I think the numbers will back me up here-- the power was in the lunch lady do.
  14. Anyone know how the Dodger fans are taking the trade in terms of what they gave up?
  15. What was the point of a new thread on this topic. I'm all for a good kick Davis-while-he's-down thing, but there are plenty of threads about this exact issue.
  16. I LOVE this line, "But the thing about the Orioles is that they don’t give a shit about anything that happens on the field this year.
  17. It should be the image of him at the plate looking off into the stands.
  18. I will go with .460.. let's add Raffy. It would make me watch.
  19. The truly hilarious/heartbreaking aspect of this season. This was FO/dugout giving it their best.
  20. Fair enough. One way or the other, we're probably going to find out soon.
  21. I think Pedro gets claimed by someone. Currently he has the highest OBP and SLG on the team. He's among the lowest among of at bats, but that's because of Davis. He certainly could get a lot more against righties.
  22. Fair point about the E! example. Directors and producers will publicly call out actors who are problematic. I would say the child actor thing isn't fair. It would be like a 20 year old actor. Buck didn't call out the bat boy for handing out the wrong bat or something. There's a whole PR industry for this sort of thing in entertainment.
  23. I get what you're saying, but I would argue that there are different rules in entertainment. Just as E! will talk about celebrities in a very public way, sports media gets to talk about athletes in sports entertainment in a very public way. Whether it is effective, that's a different issue. I'm not sure, let's see how Mountcastle responds, but I do think it's perfectly fair game. These guys makes will potential makes 10s to 100s of millions of dollars to publicly entertain. If he's not ok getting called out in public, he could always join the military or work for a small business owner, etc.
  24. Something in my gut says Davis is going to have a bounce-back year. I think he hits over 35 HRs and a .335 OBP. My dream is he hits like 45 HRs and a .350 OBP, and then we are able to trade him.
  25. I expect Davis to sit every 5th or 6th day.. so that he can start in the rotation.
