  1. I think Hays can play center field some but the problem is if you play him in center then you are gonna play either Kjerstadt Santander or O’Hearn as the two corner outfielders. I don’t think they want to hamstring the defense that much. They probably would be ok to play Hays in center if you had another good defensive left fielder which they don’t unless you put Cowser there but if that the case you mise well just play Cowser in center Hays in left. I could maybe see them push a Hays in center and Kjerstad in left only in certain stadiums but not with the huge outfield at home with lots of ground to cover.
  2. There wasn’t two guys on either it was just one man on 1st.
  3. Yeah anything over 7 innings is rare. Wheeler, Skubal, Sale and Burns have a combined 1 out in the 8th inning or later from all 4.
  4. He has said he is trying to pitch more and more to contact so the lower strikeouts is probably more to his pitching style change then anything else for most part.
  5. It is very hard to even go 8 innings when the team won’t let him go more than 100 pitches. 15 pitches an inning is pretty good and if you do that you only go about 7 innings. He has went over 100 pitches 1 time and that is an organizational decision. He went over 100 last year 12 times.
  6. I am getting Royals playoff vibes. How many hits do the have with exit velocities under 80 this series.
  7. I know we did lead the league with fewest games scoring 2 or less about a week ago. Most teams score 6+ runs some then have little offense. It isn’t that uncommon.
  8. Hays did same thing with two great at bats then watches a strike three when all he had to do was put a ball in play. They really seem to be pressing today.
  9. Adley hits .235 when he starts as catcher and .385 when he at DH so they don’t thing it is.
  10. They like giving Adley a lot of days off or at least not wearing him down catching a bunch. Like it or not they are running a marathon not a sprint.
  11. It’s the same group of hitters that leads the league in runs per game. I guess a few games tells more then entire season.
  12. We can’t catch a break this game. They hit a grounder that’s the bag for a double we have 3 balls that are homers in most every other park.
  13. Mountcastle is 3-3 Hays has a rocket double and a fly out that is a homer in 26 of the 30 stadiums.
  14. The line looks like it won’t hit til around 8 that is probably 5th or 6th inning. I think you just roll the dice and hope he gets 6 innings in.
  15. You usually do give up some high scoring games because like I said you don’t have 5 good starters and 7-8 good bullpen guys. Most teams have a couple good starters and about 5 solid bullpen guys the other guys are not great and give up runs. When you are behind you pitch your C level guys in the pen. In the last month The Phillies who lead mlb in ERA have had 11 games in their last 25 games where they gave up 6 runs or more. In that timespan we have done it 9 times. The Yanks have done it 12 times. The Guardians 9 times. The Dodgers 10 times. I always say if you get half your starts from your 1-3 type pitchers and win 2 out of 3 of their starts. Then the other half of the games with your back end rotation guys you win half the games you win 95 games which is a great season. Right now we have 46 of the 91 starts just over half from Burnes, GRod, Bradish, and Means all who I consider top of the rotation guys. We are 33-13 in there starts or .717 win percentage. The back end guys we are 24-21 or .533. I am pretty confident they add at least a number 3 starter to pencil in the rotation by July 31st and he just has to be a decent starter not elite.
