These are the reasons why many, including those who desperately wanted a complete rebuild, are growing tired of slow rolling prospects, ignoring any decent established player, and losing huge. To say nothing of those who do not like the draft strategy. I have given Elias a mulligan because of no minor league seasons last year. He better get moving though.

I wanted him in Baltimore on opening day. He's going to learn wherever he plays, and our catchers suck something awful, so it sure seems like service time manipulation to me. The 40-man argument is a poor one since no one of any consequence would be lost if AR was added to the 40.

He's made just over $3M. He should go to Japan and make what he can.

We've learned that no one in the warehouse cares about having a winning team any time soon. Maybe there is a sale coming. Maybe ownership really is super cheap. Maybe Elias isn't the genius we hoped. Whatever it is, as much as a complete rebuild was needed, this team is heading for a 5th horrid season in a row.

I live in Frederick. There is way more Nats gear than Orioles. I hate the Nats and I know how much crap I had to hear after they won the Series.

Saving money is certainly part of the answer. Trade and/or let all of the existing big contracts expire, fill the next good team with as many org/controlled/cheap players as possible. Selling the team still seems like a real possibility.

Maybe that's rhetorical... but, as you said, it's Ripken owned. His son is still in the org despite being an awful baseball player. I mean, on pure namesake/nepotism alone, Yaz should have been given some time in Baltimore, to say nothing of having been a good organizational soldier for so long and the O's needing an OF. That's why I do blame Elias for dumping him. I was a big Keys guy for years so I'm still pissed about that though it was entirely expected. The Orioles have completely lost the Frederick area to the Nats. Everything remains to be seen, and I do [still] have [some] hope for the sons and ME to succeed, but the foot-dragging, arrogance, and penny pinching is beyond insulting... and I've wanted a complete rebuild for years.

The [dwindling] fan base is paying for the Davis disaster. I don't think there's any chance we sign a real FA until that horrid contract is off the books. Elias is slow rolling this rebuild for all it's worth.

It's the org not the player.

Mountcastle was tagged hard in the side of the helmet on an attempted steal in the first. So guessing this is precautionary. This is Mateo's O's debut.
