I’m all for giving Holliday another 10-15 starts to turn things around. He hasn’t cost us any games yet, just a few runs in situational hitting, and the team has been winning. But you can’t remotely compare him to Gunnar. Even at the end of last May with his struggles, Gunnar had a .330 OBP and an OPS of .700. That’s a world of difference from a .108 OPS. I think Holliday will turn it around, but Gunnar was never that overmatched.

One thing that made me laugh in last night’s unexpected nail-biter was when Yohan Ramirez hit Frazier with a fastball on a bounce. As Frazier is walking to first, a woman from the stands screamed out, “Attempted murder!! That was attempted murder!”

You have to think that having no real MLB scouting report must have benefited Suarez greatly, especially coming out firing bullets as he did. I doubt he can keep / repeat this success, but what an amazing start for him. Great to hear the ovation he got as he left in the 6th. Well earned.

I’m not taking a moral standpoint here, and have I used VPNs and such to skirt restrictions? “I cannot recall, your honor.” But it’s not fully above the board either. Because it’s not fully legal. It’s legal to sell and own an Android box, but not legal to add apps and watch content that you haven’t paid for. They just sell it and say, “Hey, we can’t control what you choose to do with it.”

The thing that struck me the most is that he readily admits he’s not the most knowledgeable baseball guy — unlike a lot of owners, and that even in finance he “got lucky”. I know it’s the honeymoon phase and all, but he left a very good impression, and doesn’t seem the type to meddle too much in what Elias and the team do. Hallelujah.

Have they announced yet if there will be any other “exclusive” games on other platforms this year, like Peacock or YouTube? I agree it’s extremely annoying losing access to these games. Some years back the annual mlb.tv subscription got you all 162 games, plus the postseason. Then they started chipping away some individual games, and now you have to pay extra for a “postseason package”.

I have vocally defended Mateo in the past, but that was when the team wasn’t any good. I remember the MLB Network piece last April about how he “figured it out” with the toe tap… then he imploded. I don’t want to see him starting any more games for this team.

But just LOOK at that toe tap!

Microwaves aren’t banned here in Germany. You find them in offices and such, not so frequently in homes because people just don’t think they’re good at cooking food (and they’re not wrong). It’s just a cultural thing. Also, for reheating pizza, my two favorite options are either done in a cast iron skillet (covered, with a few drops of water in there to keep it from drying out), or if you have more pizza than fits in a skillet, a pizza stone in the oven heated on the highest temperature does a great job.

There’s a very real “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” skepticism within me, but I wanted the Angelos family to sell for so many years that I’m cautiously optimistic. At least he specifically mentions winning the WS as a goal. When did the Angelos family last even mention winning as a priority? It was always this vague nonsense about being “competitive”. If they extend any of the young talent, it will already be a huge sign that our fates might finally have changed.

It would really benefit the club to put extra effort into fan engagement and striking while the iron is hot, especially with kids and younger fans.

I certainly hope so. I expect regression from Cano, and I don’t think you can fully count on guys like Coulombe to repeat their sudden success (see: Cionel Perez).

Since we’re sharing our experiences, my mother (who discovered the Internet late) married a Nigerian scammer. He pretended to be someone else, then when the truth was revealed, she flew to Nigeria anyway to marry him despite all of our nonstop protestations and him being less than half her age. She wouldn’t listen to reason, because loneliness can be a very powerful thing. She wised up in the meantime, and fortunately he’s still overseas and he didn’t get all of her savings. In Palmer’s case I feel especially bad for Spencer, who will surely have permanent trust issues from such a deep betrayal. That goes far beyond the purely financial cost.

It would be a bit weird if his 4-seamer was breaking to the right.

Personally, I was sold on Mateo after mlb.tv did the breakdown on his surge in April and the “toe tap” they credited for his success. He might have just run into a bunch of fastballs or guessed lucky for a month, I don’t know. I thought Mountcastle was toast before hearing the vertigo diagnosis (and even then was skeptical). And I fully expected MLB to hammer Cano after that amazing first half, but he kept opponents below a .700 OPS after July. He wasn’t Bautista, but he was still dependable.

That site also had some of the more aggressive pop-up ads I’ve seen on my phone, with three separate pop-ups that each respawned after 10-15 seconds after killing each of them.

Cedric will only turn 31 at the end of the 2025 season. You really think his legs will give out as a 30-year-old? If anything, I expect him to get traded before he hits free agency, in which case the logjam would resolve itself.
