This is the type of garbage that gets Buck fired. This is precisely why he loses the team and the faith of management.
He ignores all statistical evidence when it comes to his "guys".
Ubaldo still being in the rotation is example A.
Smith, Davis and Trumbo all playing tonight and no pinch hitting are all supporting evidence.
I've long defended Buck and gave him full credit for turning us around but I now believe both he and Dan are detriments to the long term health of the franchise.
Neither is interested in a desperately needed rebuild and so the only logical conclusion is that they both must go.

He may had a clutch hit or two a few months ago but I'll be damned if I remember them.

There is absolutely zero reason for Ubaldo to still be on this team.
Awful managing and GM decisions have allowed him to soak us for 4 straight seasons.

Every once in a while this team has to do something smart like trade a guy at his peak value.
We haven't done that at all under Dan.

Back on topic though, I really like Santander, he seems to have that swagger of, yeah I know I can play. Manny and Schoop both have it too.
I am not saying he's either one of those guys, but he looks like a player.

Here are the moves I see barring injuries,
Trumbo activated. Gentry down.
Flaherty activated, Tejada down
Hardy activated. Flaherty optioned
Santander called up. Bleier to optioned until September 1st.
Hardy, Flaherty and Santander come off the 60 day DL and are add the 40 man roster. Tejada and Gentry come off the 40 man roster. Third spot on the 40 man roster mean Verrett, Ynao or Nuno comes off he 40 man roster.
No way I'd option Bleier before Hart.

I honestly wouldn't be upset to see Hardy stay on the DL with Beckham playing the way he is.
Can he have a parking lot accident too?
I honestly don't care what happens just so long as they don't screw up and send back Santander. The kid looks like a stud and if this year has taught us anything, it's that you can live with mediocre defense in the outfield if a guy is raking, you just can't have him play Trumbo-esq defense.
If he can be Mancini defensively and contribute with his bat as a lefty, we HAVE to ditch Tejada or Gentry for him.

Clutch outs tonight.
Hart and Givens were very encouraging.
Brach, not so much.
He hasn't been good since the all star break.

It really is getting harder and harder to defend them.
Our pitching staff is abysmal, we traded away Bob Gibson and we took our number 1 prospects best pitch away from him.
At one point do we start asking outselves some hard questions?

They could have stopped it at the top of the inning and delayed it but girardi said nothing and thought he could get the win.
The second his guy starts struggling, he comes out and asks them to stop the game, which they do for some odd reason despite the conditions being exactly the same as the previous 4 innings.
Screw the yanks and girardi, whiny little babies.

Being in first place in the al east by 9 games is made even more impressive when one considers the fact that we've been missing machado and wieters for a large chunk of the season, Davis went from a MVP candidate to a guy who will struggle to break the Mendoza line this year and finally, our single largest offseason acquisition has been an abject failure.
Just imagine how far ahead we'd be if we'd stayed healthy and made a more intelligent offseason acquisition than ubaldo.
Impressive stuff, I think you have to give Buck the credit over Dan IMHO, he has this team operating with a laser like focus game after game after game. My admiration for Buck has grown immeasurably this year.

I agree.......the blue jays are a scary team with the way buerhle and dickey are capable of pitching and the up and coming Hutchinson. Hopefully those guys fall apart as the season goes on because I really still don't believe buerhle is going to be that good all season long.
Dickey is the wild card though. Is he getting back to cy young form or are more blow ups in his future?
Regardless, that offense will probably keep them there all year long.
