  1. FWIW, I liked Wells in last night's role. Thought he brought an imposing presence to the mound with more accurate stuff in and around the zone than what we've seen from other experiments. If his lackluster stats towards the end of his minor league stint were due to tweaking stuff without regard of minor league stats to base their strategy off of, I feel much better about Wells out there in the BP.
  2. Had similar thoughts as the play was unfolding. I could see the short throw coming.
  3. I haven't visited any professional locker rooms, but that one seems like they're going to need remediation after that. Low, drop ceilings, foam tiles and fluorescent lights... I guess you don't want the visitors to be too comfortable but geez. Maybe the Rays are helping with an insurance claim the Sox were waiting to submit.
  4. I was surprised, also surprised because of the batter's handedness. Stealing home happens so infrequently, I just assumed you'd do it when the batter can block the view of the catcher somewhat, or the extra step to clear the way would be one too many things to do in 3 seconds. He was awfully close. When this sort of thing happens, despite not being safe, I hope it means the other team will spend a bit more energy on caring about that - which hopefully leads to mental mistakes to the batter. Hard to quantify this, but I have no doubt baserunners who are threats create games within the game. Perfectly executed by the Nats. Hats off to them.
  5. I'm not sure and it feels like a question I shouldn't spend much time considering. Not because there isn't value to the conversation, or opinions aren't valid -- they are -- but more so because in my fandom body of work I have had a tendency to agonize over it a bit too much. Chalk it up to either not being very evolved in this way or not having enough post-season experience as a fan. Sometimes I contemplate how watching a team closely along their journey to winning it all provides new perspective the next time. We obviously don't have that here to fall back on. Getting there is what is most important. Every team has a shot once the playoffs start. The Os are going to have to play whoever is on their path and hopefully the outcome won't depend on the matchup. I realize though this may be a coping mechanism. Either that, or I have been subtly radicalized by my Budhist In-laws.
  6. Keep things loose. Give the ball to Big Ben.
  7. Even if Hicks doesn't catch it outright, felt like he had the vector to make a play on advancing runners where Frazier definitely would not have. Tough luck and can't replay it, but it looked like Hicks had to slow it up because he didn't call it off or Frazier kept coming.
  8. Mlb.tv is carrying a Fox broadcast. Not sure if it's a national thing though
  9. Guh. Enough of that. Back to work for me.
  10. No joy. Same score. Bottom 9 here we go...
  11. Angels have 2nd and 3rd, 1 out in top 9
  12. This whole exercise has been an education for me. Flex vs Reserve... Which Flex to get... what it means for moments like this... I experienced almost what was advertised to me: up to 4 tix but instead of one game per series like the Flex Pro indicated, I think I could've gotten 3 within a single series (I didn't try that though). I swear I am grayer than I was and we're not even to Oct games yet. Good luck!
  13. Lol, I know. It's one of many real life examples I need to keep my phone face down or out of sight. Our TV provides score updates on top of any show or input I am using unless I turn it off. I sometimes forget, and when I am watching a few moments behind when tension is building, it is completely spoiled by a score update "from the future". Sometimes I don't mind. Sometimes...
  14. Glad you secured tix in the end @justD. I didn't even see parking as an option but had you post in my head as I was logging in for 12p today. See you down there!
  15. @foxfield, how'd you do???!!! I got what I was looking for... 4 tix for ALDS #2 ($75 per in Section 61) 4 tix for ALCS #1 ($125 per in 352) 4 tix for WC #2 ($150 per in 242) I've never attended a postseason game, so this is a big deal. Wanted to ensure something as best I could. FWIW, I logged on about 5 mins early to see and had the access to proceed. First attempt at tickets bonked however, and I had to jump out and back in again. Didn't mess around the second time to hunt for better seats so went with whatever was at the top.
  16. You too! This is just a precursor to how sweaty my palms will be during the actual games.
  17. Must admit. I am pretty anxious waiting for 12pm....... Hoping for 4 tix for ALDS #2 & ALCS #1 because I have a razor-thin schedule around these days.
  18. How are you getting to mlb.tv? I ask because something similar happens to me but only when I am watching mlb.tv via q PlayStation and I am not live, but instead a few minutes in the past because I joined late or had to go back. I've noticed if I try to skip ahead a little bit to make up time or try to use the controller to see the navigation interface it will skip to present. Frustrating for sure. I don't recommend that viewing experience. On the other hand, when watching on a TV through a Google Chromecast with the same Wi-Fi strength the issue above never happens. Watching on my phone doesn't do this either.
  19. I'm reading the same thing you are: up to 4 tix, up to 3 games a series, but it was advertised as up to 4 tix once per series. I go at 12p ET. Sounds like it was based on seniority.
  20. I'm buying tomorrow too. Flex Pro plan here. First time. I'm wondering how the selection process goes if the seeding is still up in the air -- which could change the home dates. What are you guys counting on? I've heard it's like: game 1, game 2, game 3... where the numbered games reflect the number played in Baltimore, not obviously the number in the series. I guess what I'm wondering is: Have you guys found a way to reason out which games are likely to be in Baltimore given they'll be either the top seed or 4th (1st wildcard) seed? Wish I had more flexibility throughout but that's not the case, so trying to hedge my bets if at possible.
  21. Thank you Cano for only needing 3 pitches to end it.
  22. Ridiculous win. Just one of those teams, I guess. Love it.
  23. As of 9pm Monday night, I was able to get the Pro level Flex plan.
  24. I think we're lucky to sneak a peak behind the scenes into the managerial process. I would love to be a fly on the wall all the time to see and hear what we can't by just watching on TV or in person. I guess I assume these types of conversations go on all over the league and we never really consider it. Did it happen in the TB side? Those guys have been to the playoffs 4-years running and are headed for #5 this season. They were ready to celebrate yesterday afternoon with a win.
  25. Was curious what happened in the Rays locker room, since they also made the postseason the same time the Os did... FWIW: "Manager Kevin Cash addressed his players to congratulate them for the impressive accomplishment, but that was about the extent of the celebration. Plastic sheeting for a bigger wet and wild party sat atop a row of lockers after being quickly rolled up following the Orioles' victory."
