  1. Man, how about Cionel Perez? 10 games, 0.00 ERA. I think the "Perez to Tate to Lopez" combination is a nice way to close out a game.
  2. I know one person who is turning a corner: CEDRIC MULLINS Over his past 6 games: 10-26, 2 HR, 4 2Bs, .385 Avg, 1.180 OPS You love to see it.
  3. Speaking of home runs: Over their first 24 games the O's hit: 11 home runs Over their last 2 games the O's hit: 7 home runs (Also, I like the chain. I'm pro: make baseball more fun/goofy)
  4. Nice write up. I share your optomism about Urias. One point that I thought was missing was how devastating the Means news is. I've been holding out hope that 2022 could be like 2011, where we finish strong and turn some heads. Then 2023 could be like 2012, where we shock the baseball world and snag a wildcard spot. (Especially with the new 12-team playoff format) Means likely missing most of 2023 makes this seem impossible. I also feel bad for him personally, because his career has had so many setbacks (injuries, the death of his dad, etc.). Oh yea and Bemboom sucks.
  5. I like Kevin Brown. I think he does a nice job of gently bringing modern day analytics and sabermetrics to a mainstream audience. And he's kinda funny, in a "nerdy young dad" kind of way.
  6. Ryan McKenna currently has the third highest OPS on the O's: .743 Rougned Odor has made an error every week of the season. Four so far.
  7. I'm tired of watching Odor and Gutierrez. I think Urias and Mateo both have more upside.
  8. Urias has an xwOBA of .359 Mountcastle's xwOBA is .356 Mullins' xwOBA is .343 Hays' xwOBA is .336 Mateo's xwOBA is .319 Gutierrez's xwOBA is .246 Odor's xwOBA is .220 Fangraphs seems to show that Ramon Urias has been unlucky, but is still one of the top hitters on this team. Not saying that's a high bar, but let's be patient. Last season he led the team in OBP. I think he could be a solid, affordable, longterm solution for 2B.
  9. Nice outing from Watkins last night. There seems to be a team-wide effort this year to be more selective as hitters and attack the zone more as pitchers.
  10. You mean the playoff-bound 2020 Miami Marlins
  11. Playing a rebuilding A's club who just lost some players to the Covid list is probably the most favorable series matchup we're going to have in a while...
  12. I like Kevin Brown. People are talking about him "growing on them" but I think its more that he's growing into the role. The games with both McDonald and Palmer in the booth were weird and awkward, though. Palmer sounded a little arrogant when he was joking about McDonald's college in Louisiana. It felt like Palmer was trying to "little bro" McDonald a bit.
  13. Think he'll stick on the roster when it gets trimmed down from 28?
  14. Cut Odor. Make Urías your starting second baseman.
  15. I honestly think Ramon Urias could be the starting 2nd baseman on our next playoff team. One of the biggest things I'm rooting for this season (besides the obvious Adley/Grayson stuff), is that he continues to establish himself as a legitimate high-OBP everyday MLB player. I think he can do that. His first year of free agency is 2027.
  16. Bruce Zimmerman should absolutely get a spot in the rotation. He was our 2nd best starting pitcher last season in terms of ERA, ERA+, and WHIP (out of pitchers who started at least 7 games). Plus he had a nice outing yesterday. Could have been a perfect 3 innings had it not been for that error.
  17. I was at the game last night. Had a great view from behind home plate in the lower level standing area. Means' changeup is elite. He was making Bryce Harper look real bad. Awesome game and my first time catching a win in four trips to see the O's this season. Also, shout out to Means for his career .929 OPS as a hitter haha.
  18. He could sign in St. Louis and be one of the youngest pitchers in their rotation...
  19. I'm interested whether you guys think the O's should try to resign Matt Harvey? The 32-year old won't cost much and has looked like a different pitcher in the second half: 5 starts, 1.65 ERA, 17Ks/6BB, 0.988 WHIP Also, for the record, I agree with much of what has already been said about our SP prospects in this thread. I'd add that I think Bruce Zimmerman could legitimately be a #4-#5 starter on our next winning team.
  20. Real happy to watch Mountcastle heat up. I was starting to feel a bit pessimistic about him when the OPS dropped to the .720's and I saw a few shaky defensive plays. Hope he can be a middle of the order bat for us going forward. (On a side note, I also like Urias batting second)
  21. He's got some good stuff. His curveball was making guys look bad last night. He's just not going to be a guy you can get 6-7 innings out of. I could definitely see him being a long reliever or opener on a good team. He's not a free agent till 2025.
  22. Ryan Mountcastle: -1.1 dWAR in 2021 according to Baseball Reference
  23. Pretty tired of Akin, to be honest. He's been the most dissapointing Oriole this season, in my book.
  24. Yea Youtube has been airing one MLB game a week. I'm excited for tonight's game. Means returns, the first all-woman broadcast team to call a game in MLB history, the O's going for a fourth win in a row... It feels like an important game, even if its not.
  25. I mean, Zimmerman has easily been our second best starter (with at least 5 starts) this season. 4.83 ERA, 8 SO9
