We really could use his .244 OBP since joining the Astros.
-
She also has the exact same cadence as Beth Mowins, which is irritating.
-
Currently matching the 1989 Why Not season. It's certainly possible.

He's not awful. He's not good either.
-
Newman is just awful and you're lying to yourself to think otherwise. Garceau is annoying, but he's not awful.
-
He was a great guy who handled adversity well, but his production is not going to be hard to replace.
-
He still has only had 2 seasons with above starting level oWAR

Jorge Lopez traded to Twins for pitching prospects (edit)

Cano is undefeated right now. -
He's a 30 year old DH who has a negative dWAR and has only had two seasons where he was above starter level WAR with a career .1 WPA.

We got 6 pitchers in return for 1 and a 30 year old DH who has had a starter level WAR for only 2 seasons...and people are upset at this? I legitimately do not understand. -
Liked it a lot for the return we got and never really understood the fascination with Mancini as a fan favorite other than being a homegrown guy who was the best player on a really bad team for a few years.

I mentioned him once in this thread, but if you seriously think this team is capable of "winning" this season, you should seek professional help. -

Then we should be in good shape for the next couple of seasons. Jorge Lopez's first great first half of relief pitching not being on this roster doesn't change that. -

This is just a hilarious take to me considering Rougned Odor is still batting 5th in this lineup. This team was never poised to be .500 in August. It was a pleasant surprise but we need to temper our expectations for this season. -

You don't think they can use Bautista in the closer role and still win? -

This is the correct take. He's had one good half-year in the majors and we got 4 pitchers to shore up depth in the minors. -
How far are the O's away from being a winning team?
DJHJR86 replied to wildcard's topic in Orioles Talk
3-4 years. Even though the COVID year was shorter, if you expand the numbers they were on pace for a 67 win season. Which is the current pace right now in 2021. I think they are 2 years away from borderline .500 and 3-4 until they are actually competitive. All of this is also based on the assumption that the guys who are supposed to develop, actually do develop into solid starters. -
Connolly: P.A. Announcer Ryan Wagner fired on Opening Day
DJHJR86 replied to Moshagge3's topic in Orioles Talk
I mean...she is the first female PA announcer in Orioles history. Seems like it should be something to point out. Also, I think they were looking for a reason to fire Wagner, and saw their opportunity to do it. People who have interacted with him do not have a high opinion of him. He's full of himself, and let that MLB fan cave "fame" get to his head. -
Why not? This is his first year switching to a full-time lefty, and while the results are promising thus far, I think he'll slide back down to Earth shortly. The fact that this is a rebuilding team with a plethora of outfielders doesn't make this decision any harder.

I don't mind the changes other than Garceau doing play by play ending the Scott & Jeremy duo on 105.7. Replacing that with Jason La Canfora in any capacity means that I'll never listen to 105.7 again.

Bingo. For a team that everyone is expecting to be horrible for at least 3 years, I see nothing wrong with bringing Ynoa up. It's a short term move. He'll probably be DFA'ed within a month.

Something just seems different as of late with Davis. And it's not just is ball off of bat speed, or making contact and putting the ball in play. I'm not making some grand proclamation that he's back to his old form, but an even slight improvement from last year is huge considering how awful he was. Let's hope it continues.

There are more teams other than the Royals this year that will be competing for the worst record in baseball. This isn't denial to think that the O's have a shot to not have the worst record this year.

I wouldn't be so sure about this.
