  1. Ryan Mountcastle went on the IL due to a diagnosis of vertigo. Ryan was reinstated from the IL just before the All Star game. Since resuming the regular schedule, Brandon Hyde has used Mountcastle sparingly as a designated/pinch hitter. Ryan O'Hearn has continued to start. WTF? Ryan Mountcastle has been "stinging" tha ball when he has had at bats. Mike Elias and Brandon Hyde have not, have never supported veterans with the acknowledged folkloric assurances of being a starter. Veterans should take into consideration that "management" does NOT have their best interest at heart when/if they negotiate at the end of the season. Loyalty is a two way street. The undiscussed aspect of this post is that Ryan Mountcastle is a better defensive first baseman than Ryan O'Hearn. Since the All Star break there has been more than one game wher O'Hearn has allowed a base runner that Mountcastle may not have allowed.
  2. I am so sick and tired of O's managers who can't pull the trigger on starting pitchers. Buck was like this. Tonight Hyde did it again for the I lost count time. Bottom of the 5th it's 0-0, Wojiehowski is starting his third time through the lineup and there is a lead off home run. Hyde in his typical fashion doesn't even have a reliever up, even though the starter is at 90 pitches. The next batter gets a hit and then Castro gets up. We're down 2-0 before we have a reliever even close to being ready. This may be a rebuilding year, but the combination of Elias/Hyde has this, I've been as Orioles fan since 1963, ready to throw in the towel. Under the Peter Angelos ownership, this proud franchise has suffered an unendurable descent into ineptitude. I do not see Mike Elias/Brandon Hyde showing a path to even a .500 season anytime soon.
