  1. I think the only way we get a SP will be someone younger with control. Like Irvin but better, but definitely not a proven TOR "Ace". For that reason I don't think it's likely. I think targeting one or two impact relievers makes a ton of sense. I wouldn't count on Givens or Tate for anything at all this year. Having a 7-8-9 shutdown bullpen would help our SP situation. I think the dark horse trade would be a big 1B bat. If the value is there they might do that and it would be useful. But probably a rental with Kjerstad in the wings.
  2. Why why why Hyde. Why the McKenna sub. Why take out Irvin at 72 pitches. Why. The bullpen is overworked. Why do you do this.
  3. Honestly if that info is true that's pretty concerning. I hope it's nothing serious
  4. Before the lineup was announced, someone on Facebook who claims their son is good friends with Mounty said that he was having dizzy spells and was gonna get tests. Sounded like BS until the lineup came out.
  5. Sheesh I'm so tired of Hyde doing this. Let Gibson at least try to work out of this. He can pitch 100+ every one in a while.
  6. 9 pitches from Baumann and the bullpen is stretched thin. Why on earth did Hyde use Givens there. Just dumb.
  7. Pretty non-veteran sequence there. Bad pitch on a two strike count for a double, followed by an absolutely terrible 5 pitch walk to Merrifield, followed by a 92mph fastball right down the middle for the RBI. Just pretty ugly after the first two batters.
  8. I think this was the second game where I really disliked Hyde using McCann as a pinch hitter. It seemed completely unnecessary to use McCann over McKenna in that situation. It just isn't worth the risk if AR tweaks something and Vavra has to be your catcher.
  9. Shout out to Vavra for getting Ceddy another AB
  10. I don't know if I'd call 10 hard hit balls "great" but he's definitely gutting it out and I'm impressed. Some tough situations he's worked out of.
  11. Sending Gunnar down probably means more playing time for Frazier, I'd guess. Is that a trade we want to make? Do people prefer Ortiz over Gunnar? I just don't understand. For the record, I would be very happy with a Frazier DFA a strict Gunnar-Ortiz/Westburg platoon but that's not going to happen.
  12. I wouldn't, personally. But he started against a lefty last night.
  13. Second best record in all of baseball with the Pirates loss. Although I would've been much happier with a Rays loss..
