  1. That’s fair, but if Grayson doesn’t have a bad start like that we’re not talking about Baker. Flaherty would have probably been the best option. But I don’t think Grayson giving up 5 runs after being given a 2-0 lead can be overlooked. That was the number one problem with Game 2.
  2. It was Masn, and Irvin was/is listed on their post. Surprised they never edited it. https://www.instagram.com/p/CyGlesArmCA/?igshid=MWZjMTM2ODFkZg==
  3. Oh wow, that’s what I thought at first but then I saw one list that said he was, and I’m pretty sure it was from the O’s social media team. I was confused so I checked it twice. Weird.
  4. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Game 1 was fine. It's the playoffs and it was competitive through the last out. Some things didn't go the Orioles way. But nothing to really be upset over. Game 2, Grayson just didn't bring it. But the bats and the team showed energy and life. If Grayson put together an okay performance, we might be sitting here with a 1-1 tie and feeling decent. But the starting pitching hasn't been as good as Texas' starting pitching. What brings it back? Scoring first with our lineup becoming electric again, and shutting the door with pitching each inning. Or just a crazy comeback win that gives the O's some momentum, which we've seen time and time this year.
  5. I know they're trying to win a series, but I do think that Kremer getting postseason experience has value over a guy that won't be on the team next year. Perhaps they'll use Gibson as well tonight and deal with a Game 4 starter if/when that time comes. Could be back to back "bullpen" games. They still have Irvin available as well. Personally, I like the idea of limiting our pitchers to one time through the order and try to chip away inning by inning at this 2-0 deficit.
  6. Just getting the game back to Camden would be a big achievement, certainly do-able. Honestly, getting out of Camden might benefit the Orioles the way Texas flipped all of the O's bats to the right side. But bringing it back home to Baltimore for Game 5 would be pretty incredible. At minimum, this is invaluable experience for the O's youngsters.
  7. The playoffs aren't supposed to be fair. They just need to make some minor tweaks. Perhaps going back to the one game playoff for the Wild Card round would be an option. At minimum, no one is going to complain about getting a bye if they don't have to play a one game playoff. Plus it would mess up the wild card teams rotations a little more, and wouldn't allow one team to get into a groove.
  8. So a team can win Game 6 down 2-3 in a series and win the series? Or Game 4 down 1-2? C'mon. Like that's going to make things better.
  9. I don’t like pinch hitting with O’Hearn there for that reason. But I don’t think he would have subbed Henderson for Mateo. if nothing else it’s a learning moment for Henderson. We’re not going back to Showalter not using Britton. You play the guys who got you there.
  10. No, but this is just clearly backseat driving.
  11. He had a 3-0 count. You’re bunting with a 3-0 count?
  12. I gotta stay out of these game threads. Lose a game by 1 run. Going to get swept now. I feel like this is how these threads have been all year long.
  13. Not they. It was Henderson.
  14. Good point about Ripken. 1996 Brady Anderson anyone? 2005 Brian Roberts?
  15. I could absolutely see the O’s doing a “bullpen” game in 3 and/or 4 and using the likes of Means, Kremer and/or Gibson one time through the order or so. Even Wells, perhaps.
  16. 2nd page in and I don’t think anyone has said Cal yet lol. This while some people think Mateo might spot start at SS
  17. Love it. Melvin Mora from the mid 2000s would be another one from that time period.
  18. Going with Orioles only but anything that is interesting or creates discussion is cool by me
  19. ...who would it be and why? Specifically from the Wild Card Era. Question taken from a Jomboy podcast.
  20. Four innings in 2023 against the O's, all out of the bullpen. O's were up 7-1 in this game after 2.5 innings in Texas.
  21. Rangers fans are probably even more worried about Dunning. He's never been good against lefties, at all. O's are gonna throw a bunch of lefties against him. I think the O's are set up pretty well Game 1.
  22. I feel the same about Kremer in the bullpen, but what is the likelihood the Orioles use him out of the 'pen in anything that resembles a medium leverage situation? I don't know if I see them using Gibson, Flaherty or Kremer in anything of real significance out of the bullpen. I'm not planning the Game 4 starter off of who I might want to have available of the bullpen in Games 4 or 5. But yeah, I don't see them announcing the Game 4 starter for a while in case they have to use one of these guys in long relief for Games 1-3.
  23. It wasn't a sellout, but it was close. Tropicana has an official capacity of 25,000 but it can hold 42,000. It's just sad to see such a low attendance.
  24. And sometimes it's the opposite. The opposite seems to be one of Elias' strengths when building a team.
  25. That and Nate McLouth scoring the first run of the Orioles 2012 playoffs are most memorable for me from that 2012-2016 run. Who will be this year's Delmon Young? Of course it will be Frazier. Some way, somehow
