  1. Even ignoring his sexual offenses I think we've seen that Elias values character and having a solid clubhouse so I don't think he'd entertain the idea of Bauer.
  2. Someone at pale Sox talk hilariously suggested Cease should be worth 1.5 or 2 times this package. Others have said Getz overplayed his hand.
  3. You keep making cryptic statements that are intentionally vague then being condescending to people when they don't understand. Just say what you know or go quietly into the night.
  4. I think he'd (the Husker poster) would be the one eating crow. He previously said there's no way Povich would be traded and the Orioles told Povich he was in their 2024 plans. Implies he knows somebody in the "Povich Camp" but is very cryptic. He seems to be cryptically implying that a trade is in the works with Povich as part of it.
  5. If I've learned one thing about White Sox fans through this, it's that they believe 2022 Dylan Cease is what they are trading and any suggestion otherwise is stupid. They see him as a Cy Young caliber pitcher and nothing less, like we're trading for 2 cheap years of prime Kershaw or something.
  6. I've seen it reported that they've been in on both Cease and Glasnow. I agree with you that India and Marte are the two most likely pieces moved unless they decide to try India in the OF and trade an OFer (unlikely but their manager mentioned trying him in the OF the other day).
  7. Our trade deadline acquisition is a 25 year old reliever in A+, let's make this playoff push baby!!
  8. Ours certainly looks to be the weakest. It could end up okay but I wouldn't count on it. We do have great defense and a full year of Adley calling games so that will help. I would like to believe that ownership is handcuffing Elias because I believe Elias is really smart and knows supplementing the rotation with any of the 2-3 starters that signed 2-3 year deals (Bassitt, Quintana, Heaney, Stripling, etc) would have paid off without hurting our future and just would require ownership to be willing to invest in payroll just a little. Grayson - Looks awesome, high potential. Most innings thrown in a year in the minors is 103. He threw 79 last year. He isn't going to come in and anchor a rotation. He's going to be capped on how many innings he throws. Means - Isn't likely to come out of the gate from rehab firing on all cylinders. Will be hard to rely on him going into the year. Gibson - Will eat innings and be a mediocre pitcher, that's good as a 5th starter. Kremer - Is due for regression as his 4.54 SIERA and 4.43 xFIP indicate, still a fine 4-5 starter though. Bradish - Hard to predict what we can expect of Bradish. Are we getting the April-June Bradish who was getting shelled or the July-October Bradish who looked great. Probably somewhere in between. Back of rotation starter most likely, upside of a 3 starter. Wells - Probable back of rotation guy.
  9. Sign Verlander, trade for Pablo Lopez, sign Josh bell or Abreu. Yes, WS contenders. Payroll still probably bottom half and our future is fine because no long term deals signed. Wouldn't drastically affect long term club health, just the pockets of the greedy ownership. Instead we have Gibson.
  10. I'd have beaten: Verlander Josh Bell Andrew Heaney Gives us a true ace, a switch hitter who can DH and give Mountcastle a day off here and there, and a 2-3 in the rotation when healthy. All signed 2-3 year deals with options so it wouldn't hurt the future. Would just require the Angelos family to invest in payroll (and our payroll would still be in the bottom third). Not part of the question but I'd also sign Jean Segura to a 1 year deal if possible though I'm up in the air on that. I'm not confident about 2B right now. I'd also consider trading for Pablo Lopez. If we made those moves this is a team that can compete for a WS with a bottom half payroll (probably bottom third) with no long term 11 year contracts hanging over our heads. Instead, we have Kyle Gibson and Franchy Cordero.
  11. I agree with a lot of what he said but none of it precludes him from giving short term deals to free agents that would make a difference now without hamstringing the future of the organization. Could have signed Verlander to the deal he got (2 years with vesting 3rd) and Josh Bell (2 years with player opt out in 2nd year), trade for Lopez, made a couple smaller moves, and still had a bottom third payroll. Our chances for this year would have increased tremendously with two front line starters and a power hitting switch hitter with a career .810 OPS and our payroll would still be low relative the rest of the league with no long term commitment. Something tells me ownership is handcuffing Elias (who I still believe is a phenomenal GM).
