Starting to remind me of the 2013 season. We gave up 3 straight walk offs to the Diamondbacks in mid August and you just knew it wasn't in the cards. Granted, we were in 3rd place then and 1st right now. But similar vibes.

The most notable difference is literally just Bautista to Kimbrel combined with the loss of Coloumbe. You lose two of the top 10-15 bullpen arms in the league and it’s going to hurt. The rest of the bullpen has mostly been adequate.

The Kimbrel experience reminds me of 2012 when we kept around Kevin Gregg for absolutely no reason.

Exactly LOL. There's so many rules for him. Can't have too little rest, can't have too much rest. Can't pitch in high leverage. Can't pitch with too LOW leverage.

I didn't mind the signing at the time, but we need to stop the bleeding. Hell, Bryan Baker can do better than this. Kimbrel's ERA since the beginning of July is gonna be like over 7 after this game.

I don't think this guy can even be a part of our pen at this point. At least Soto throws 100.

I said it before but I like Eloy in the lineup because it's such a change of pace from the rest of our hitters. More of a bat to ball line drive/ground ball slapper.

Crazy that Eflin has a career 99 ERA+, but those first 2 years in Philly were really bad.

You aren't getting multiple years of a quality price controlled pitcher without giving up quality in return.
There were plenty both "willing" and "wanting". If you want to pretend that wasn't the case so be it. There wasn't a pitcher I would have traded him for, because he only would have been part of a package, not like it would have even been a straight up thing.

Half is debatable, but there were many more than willing to include him in trade packages. Not even "headline" necessarily. Just as a piece to get a pitcher like Crochet. Even then seeing him crush now, are you trading him for pitching? Absolutely not.

I'm really concerned to give out a big contract to a guy who, in a career year, is only batting .238 with a .311 OBP. Who adds no defensive value or speed value. Seems like a recipe for disaster.
