  1. I picked Mayo but on second thought I think I'd go Holliday. I absolutely do not want to trade Basallo. The potential of having all 162 games/at bats of your catcher (+Adley) with an 800+ OPS is too tantalizing. Mayo being a RH and basically positionless is why I picked him originally, but Holliday seems to mostly cross off boxes we already have. That plus the Boras/extension future problem... yea
  2. Why can't we trade for Scherzer and Crochet? Put Crochet in the bullpen for the stretch run and you still got your Burnes replacement for next year.

Is MASN really glitchy for anyone else
  4. I think the voting was position specific right? So Semien didn't really make it over Westburg, even though you can certainly argue that Westburg should count at 2B to make it over Semien (who did not deserve it in any sense).
  5. One of the keys here is that the Tigers don't need to trade Skubal. You can make a good argument to do it, but it's not necessary, and not necessary at the deadline. If I'm the Tigers I'm not settling for Kjerstad+. A good GM wouldn't. I'd bet Elias looks to do that trade in the offseason, similar to when he traded for Cole in Houston.
  6. In the end I'm guessing DET wouldn't trade us Skubal without at least one of Westburg/Cowser/Holliday/Mayo/Basallo. They aren't desperate to trade him, so no need to deal him without a player they truly covet. I don't think Kjerstad can be the headliner here. I think the packages we are talking about would get Crochet though, but not Skubal.
  7. Are the Tigers going to give up on Torkelson? Seems like Mounty wouldn't be the ML guy they'd want. As it is now we really don't have a long term option at 1B other than Mounty himself anyway. When 2027 rolls around that dust will have settled. Maybe Mayo? If I were to guess the player the Tigers would target, it'd be Westburg. But I think he has entrenched himself to the point he's not going anywhere. Perhaps Kjerstad/McDermott/Norby/Bradfield would get it done? That may seem light, but it is 2 guys in the top 100 and 2 guys that are fringe top 100. Bradfield presents the same problem though. I think the Orioles really view Cowser as the long term LF, to eventually replace Hays. Mullins probably isn't getting an extension. CF is still mostly a mystery long term without Bradfield.
  8. The biggest jumps of a SP seem to be going from a #2 to a #1 and a #4 to a #3. We need a legit #3, AKA someone we will absolutely want to start a playoff game (game 3). If you can't say that, they are probably a #4. I'm not sure Kikuchi is really a #3.
  9. I meant for both. Although thinking about it, Texas would probably want Beavers, they have the corner OF spots covered.
  10. Would you do McDermott and Stowers for Scherzer/Yates?
  11. I assume Kremer's FIP is bad because he's given up 10 HR in 10 starts. His stuff is not going to consistently overcome giving up a HR every start. I remember Verlander gave up 36 HR in 2019 but obviously it didn't matter because they were almost always solo shots and his still won the CY with a 2.58 ERA (3.27 FIP) and struck out 300 batters.
  12. What would a Yates/Scherzer package cost? I'm sure the Texans will try and give it until closer to the deadline to regain some ground on the WC race, but they are 8.5 games back right now. 9th in OPS in the AL and 9th in ERA. Nothing really screams that they will go on a run to make to back. The smart move would be to trade expiring pieces.
  13. I said Burnes, Westburg, Kimbrel and Santander. I'm not familiar with all the options for OF in the AL but I can't imagine there's enough that Tony and his 22 dingers are left off. Tucker deserves it but I'm assuming he will still be on IL? Or perhaps skip it anyway. Kinda the same with closers. Clause will make it and probably Holmes too. Well and Miller. After that?
  14. Kremer is perfectly fine as the 4th starter. But obviously right now he's really the 3rd and next year he's the 2nd.
  15. I'd love Fried but at the same time if we are spending the money for him you might as well just spend the money for Burnes. There's a pretty clear drop off after those two.
  16. That's way too many major league players for us to give up. We still need to field a major league team this year.
  17. Remember when Kevin Gregg was our closer and put a runner on like pretty much every time he went out there for a save lol.
  18. Holliday for Logan Webb would be cool. There's not really a reason for them specifcially to do that trade, but that's the kinda player (established #1 starter under contract for 3+ years) that I'd do it for.
  19. Yea I think I'd ultimately do it, but given our deep system I'd much prefer to ship out one of our many positional prospects.
  20. Lol it'd be pretty funny if Getz is so excited/distracted about the potential Crochet trade he just dumps Fedde to us.
  21. This is probably a good pivot if nothing else but the "better" pitchers on the market don't pan out. Connor Norby would seem like a player the Cubs would want. If we are willing to take on the salary. Do the Cubs really think they are contending in 2025 or 26? Hell, maybe they can add in Drew Smyly. Especially if DC looks iffy to actually make it back this season.
  22. Fedde seems like the Michael Lorenzen of 2024. Would anyone really be surprised if he was traded and had the same second half as Lorenzen did with the Phillies last year?
  23. Scherzer definitely seems like the best option for the short term. If we came away with Scherzer and Estevez I'd consider that a successful trade deadline. It doesn't help us for 2025+, but we don't necessarily need to solve that puzzle at the deadline.
  24. There was a whole thread about it of course. The fact we could split Adley and Basallo and potentially have a 800+ OPS catcher for all 162 games is an advantage no team has had since probably the 90s (if I were to guess).
