  1. You are missing the at bats after he was traded. If you only want to include his time in Pittsburg (last year after claiming that it's been "years") then his OBP in those 386 at bats was even higher at .388 which is far beyond anyone on our current roster.
  2. At some point though - we have to accept that certain players just don't want to live in Baltimore when they can live in NY or LA with all that money. The city needs to improve its reputation in order for the team to attract some of these guys in FA because some of the players will just cross it off immediately regardless. Nobody on this board knows what offers the O's put out there.
  3. Here's a thought - if you spend to compete with the rest of the league instead of hoarding money then attendance would rise. I say this as someone who was all in on tanking for the rebuild. These statements though are infuriating for longtime O's fans. Talk about putting the cart before the horse....."when attendance increases we'll spend more" - good grief.
  4. This is true - you play the best players. All of the other talk about the clubhouse and whatnot is just noise and distraction. The most talented and best players have to play.
  5. Rougned Odor says that a facial hair policy would not be a problem.
  6. He led the team in HR and RBI last year and is a switch hitter which also has value in making the lineup. He has plenty of value - especially if he can fill in at 1B occasionally while Stowers or others are in the COF or Adley is DH. If we trade him we need to be replacing that offensive production. Like others have said - if we can get a legitimate SP back for him he's not "untradeable" but 33 HRs and 89 RBI certainly has value.
  7. Bassitt improves the team. He doesn't take us to a serious contender. I think he needs to be the 2-3 starter if we are really focused on contending. He was the NYM #3 and they still couldn't get it done. With his age I don't think throwing big money at him is a good idea. If we want to seriously contend we should be looking at deGrom / Verlander / Rodon first and trying to sign Bassitt as the second supplement to the rotation or trading prospects for a Bassitt level starter.
  8. Yep - go get deGrom or Verlander if you can. We haven't had an ace since Mussina and desperately need one. If Grayson or DL becomes the second ace then you have a serious chance at a WS. Otherwise its all meaningless.
