When the starting infield took the field, Cesar Izturis worked out in Roberts' place at second base.

Reading Izturis stepping in for him, even if only temporary was enough to make me cringe.

That sucks. Hopefully he just slept in the wrong position last night. I think the writer is grasping at straws when she said that it could be related to his back issues last year. A herniated disc is a localized problem. I'm not a doctor but I don't see how a cervical injury (if it even is an injury) could be related to a lumbar injury.

Coming from a guy who has had 3 back surgeries which started with the same exact injury Roberts has (herneated L-5) I can say that I never had pain in my neck. Now if he is saying he had pain in his buttcheek or down his leg, then you can be very worried. But with all my back problems I never experienced any pain in my neck.

Also dont think that his back is going to lead to my results (surgeries). I know plenty of people who live their whole life with Herneated disks without surgery. I opted for the "quick fix" and in hindsight probably wish I didnt

He got a 100% clean physical and his back issues seem to be laregly behind him. A stiff neck could be, and most likely means, just a stiff neck.

Yes because despite the great off season we had, we failed to find a decent back up plan for roberts. Which would be a guy who can hit and lead off. Who leads off when roberts doesn't play?

Well, I was going with the idea that Izturis would be Robert's replacement in the lineup. I think it would take a lot more to get Winn in the lineup every day as a leadoff guy.

Of course, now that it has been brought up...
