National Bohemian beer — popularly known as Natty Boh — will be sold on draft this season at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, according to a Pabst Brewing Co. representative.

The beer will be available throughout the ballpark at the April 4 home season opener, said Rachel Anne Warren, a retail sales specialist with Pabst Brewing Co. Warren said sales of the beer, once marketed under the slogan, "Brewed in the Land of Pleasant Living," had exceeded expectations after it was reintroduced on tap at the end of January.

Not to be a negative nancy but can I ask what the fascination with this particular beer is? I mean I understand that it'll always be "connected" with the O's/Baltimore but other than that what are positives about it?

From what I've tasted of it, ain't nothing to write home about.

Just curious. And yes, I'm a bit of a beer snob.

Its local cheap beer. Read the blog in the link in the OP. Yes I wrote it, but I think that explains it about as well as I can do here.

In defense of Boh during a Washington Post blind taste-test of cheap beer, defined as beer you can get a 6 pack for no more than 6 bucks, Boh was rated the best.

The surprise winner was Baltimore's own Natty Boh, which testers rated highest on flavor and third for refreshment. Some of the praise: "The best one -- actually tastes like beer!" "High carbonation and the most hops." "Zesty ... got a little more kick."

"Flavor! Weird!" wrote one Going Out Guru, who was obviously not expecting much after sampling a few other brews. Another praised Boh as "Mellow and smooth."

Of course, reactions were mixed. "Most assertive and palatable flavor," said one, damning with faint praise. "I would happily drink this beer because it doesn't have a nasty aftertaste," added another. Final view: "Not great, but at least distinctive"

      Paul Blair certainly played so shallow you had to think he was fast to turn his back and track down balls the way he did. No idea where he would rank on the list.

      I would rather have Gunnar, Westburg and either Urias or Frazier at 3B/SS/2B, even against lefties.  The difference between Urias/Frazier and Mateo against lefties is nominal, and the boost that Mateo can give you off the bench as a pinch-runner / pinch-bunter is more important in my opinion.

      His spot on the roster comes down to 2 things: 1) Do they trade either Ortiz or Westburg? 2) Do they plan on starting the year with Holliday and/or Mayo on the roster? For #1, if they keep both, Mateo is gone. For #2, if either or both are on the roster, he’s gone. To me, the most likely scenario is one of those 2 is traded and they don’t start the year with either of those guys on the roster, so I think Mateo starts the year with the Os and they just go from there.

      They talked on the broadcast last night about how GrayRod was using his cutter during his first ten starts and how he was getting knocked around on the heaters. Ben mentioned how it's difficult as a pitcher to effectively command both the cutter and the slider and when they sent GrayRod down, they told him to work on FB command. I haven't heard anyone affiliated with the team say it outright that they told him to stop throwing the cutter (Cakes would say it about both GrayRod and TWells all the time and I can recall at least once during an in-game convo with whoever was mic'd up, Cakes said to tell Tyler to stop throwing the cutter).  I can't find any data that shows that GrayRod has thrown a single cutter since his Aug 2 start against the Jays (he threw one to Vlad Jr.) Ben mentioned that he leads major league starters this year in 100+mph pitches and (I think it was Cakes) said that when he came back up to the big club, he stopped pitching like he was trying to strike out everyone. I haven't looked at the data enough to support or disagree with that statement but he's been so good since coming back from Norfolk that he's lowered his 7.35 ERA from his first 45 1/3 innings by three runs down to 4.35 over his last 75 2/3 innings, throwing to a 2.58 ERA over that span. I saw yesterday that only Bradish has been better over that time. I am confident that we can declare (at least I will) that the GrayRod that we've seen over the last 75 2/3 innings is the pitcher that he is going to be for a while. Damn it, it's nice to have him and KB and Means and even Kremer going into the postseason and next year with GrayRod, Bradish and Kremer all locked up at least through 2026.
