He looked every bit as good as the line suggests. His four-seamer is better than I had expected. Good velo and movement: it's in Arrieta's class. He threw a couple of wicked changeups that were also better than I expected.

Everybody knows about the hard sink on the two-seamer, and it was every bit as good as we've been told. I didn't get a good look at the slider, but he did backdoor somebody with it, and I think he might've gotten Teixeira with it the second time around.

In all, he was even better than I expected. If this was typical, he's ready to pitch in MLB.

Command must improve for him to hit that ceiling..Only threw 55% of his pitches for strikes tonight.

The potential is definitely there...but to take that next step, the command must improve.

Do that and we could have a very special pitcher.

It seemed like he was nibbling a bit at times.

I didn't think so. That's Zach. He's going to fall behind hitters sometimes, but the movement on the sinker is so good he can get guys out behind in counts. The best part of his stuff is that he doesn't have to nibble. When he misses he just misses, it's not like he's trying to nibble on the corners.

He didn't throw many sliders tonight through the three inning stint but he did throw a couple good ones. One of change ups floated but the other two I saw were very nice.

I tell ya, he's going to make things tough for Buck to send him back.

Duck? You mean Duke...

Immediately thought of "The Duke of Death"... from Unforgiven.

I have not seen Britton pitch (including today), does he work fast, a la Bergesen? Sounds like he would be very enjoyable to watch.

The surprise to me was the velo and movement on the four-seamer, boring in on the fists of the RH hitters. That kind of stuff will saw off bats.

The Kevin Brown comparisons are not far-fetched.
