Saw this on MLB Network Radio's Facebook page:

Sporting goods giant Easton-Bell has developed a prototype pitching helmet for pitchers, "First Pitch" wants to know what your thoughts are on pitcher's potentially using a helmet, and if there's a chance it catches on?

My first thought was:

My first reaction was that I've never seen a pitcher struck in the spots that it covers. OTOH those are the spots where some of the most severe damage is likely to occur.

It would have to be very light and unobtrusive, though. Even, then, it's going to be a nuisance on a hot summer day.
