I don't go after him, no matter the pricetag...

I've said it numerous times...he's playing way above his head, at 30 years old, in a walk season.

stay away, stay very far away

I agree...does anyone know what this brings to mind in a nice contract year??

Can we say Adrian Beltre?

His career levels and what he has steadily done have less to do with how much he is coveted at this point than his current year does.

I wouldn't mind his estabilshed production for Mora money, but this guy is not a 5/75 superstar like the way he'll be paid this offseason

Can we say Adrian Beltre?

Last 3 seasons before Beltre signed his deal:

Beltre:

2002 - 21 HR 75 RBI .257BA 7SB

2003 - 23HR 80RBI .240BA 2SB

2004 - 48HR 121RBI .334BA 7SB

Soriano:

2002 - 39HR 102RBI .300BA 41SB

2003 - 38HR 91RBI .290BA 35SB

2004 - 28HR 91RBI .280BA 18SB

Since Beltre signed his deal:

Beltre:

2005- 19HR 87RBI .255BA 3SB

2006- 13HR 54RBI .263BA 10SB

Soriano:

2005- 36HR 104RBI .268BA 30SB

2006- 38HR 76RBI .289BA 28SB

Any comparison between these players is absoultely muted just by looking at the stats. Soriano has been as consistent as they come in the majors.

5/75 to Soriano is a contract we'll be begging to get rid of when really good FA's are on the market and we're still getting that .270/.300/.490 from our highest-paid player and languishing in 81-win purgatory(provided the young pitching turns out to be tolerable)

Soriano's numbers are undeniable.

If in Baltimore, he will hit between 30-40 home runs, driving in 110+ runs, steal 35+ bases and hit near .300 for the next 5 years.

He will be a major boost for the fanbase.

People are all afraid of him for no reason. He's an ex-Yankee who was involved in the A-Rod trade, then he was a poor fielding second baseman, so he has a stigma.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we trying to get him from the Yankees during the first fire sale? they offered Deangelo Jiminez and we demanded Soriano.

We didn't get him the first time. Go get him now.
