How much faster can a fastball go? 105? 110?

It makes sense as basically the ball will go as fast as the arm will allow it. Since your arm is just one big sling shot, it's just maximizing the speed the sling shot is fired at. I do have to believe that there is a speed cap for the human body. We can only be so strong, and perfect the mechanics of throwing so much until you reach a physical cap.

Walter Johnson was once clocked at 134 f/s, which is a little over 91 MPH, and he was one of the top three or four fastest of his era.

I never really thought about it but I guess it makes sense. The ball was not as advanced (uniform aerodynamics) as it is now, and like the article says, pitchers for a long time did not really get much push off the mound.
