Guess what I just found out???

I would like to see the contract these vendors have with the stadiums, and the contracts with MLB in general. I would imagine that it's pretty standard across the board for the official stores to be contracted to stock official MLB gear, not a specific team's. There might be some wording that x% of the merchandise must be of the stadium's team.

The idea that the Orioles organization could actually insist on not selling opposing teams' merchandise just strikes me as silly. This would at the least involve likely infringing on the 12-year contract with the company that handles all in-stadium vendors/refreshments. At most, it's working against standard agreements drawn up by MLB as a whole. It just isn't going to happen.

I understand people "don't want opposing fans to feel at home" in our stadium. I get it. But these comments making the O's organization out to be performing some great injustice against their fans by not breaking contract, by not doing something no other organization would consider doing, are just ridiculous. I know "fan" is short for "fanatic" but people are just not viewing this with any concept of realism.

Well then that is either something new or she is not truthful. Either way, I'll find out for myself next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

I'm in western KY and tried to get a trip up to see the Birds play in KC next week. Wish I could join you even if it meant that this lady lied to me and I can't get an O's cap at the game!

I did find out from my friend that the Yankee stadium store only carries Yankee merchandise. Telephone number (646) 977-8777

I've been there.

For those all upset about the O's selling other teams stuff in their stores, let me ask you a question that someone alluded to earlier.

Lets say you take a road trip to, say, Cleveland. You have paid for transportation, hotel accomodations, game tickets, food, etc. So you get to the game, and a snowstorm breaks out, and all you have is mild weather clothing. Wouldn't it be kinda nice to be able to grab an Orioles sweathshirt or jacket or something while at the Jake?

I know we look at it all worked up because the Yanks fans overtake our Yard, but its good business AND common courtesy to accomodate fans who travel from other areas.

That's my point of view, anyway.

Well to be fair, if you go to Cleveland anytime before May and don't prepare for that kind of weather, you deserve having Chief Wahoo smiling from the gear you are forced to buy :laughlol:

Are you saying the most Oriole fans would rather freeze then put on an Indian sweatshirt? If you are, I agree ;)

Yankees and Red Sox fans don't deserve that courtesy for the way they treat the hometown fans. If I'm going to another park, I bring my own O's gear and don't expect to find anything there.

Again with the age of the internet you don't have to go to Fenway Park to get O's gear when the O's are playing the Sox like you used to when that was one of the only places you could get something.

The team stores in the stadium should be for selling that team's gear only. Opposing fans are guests in your ballpark and you don't have to cater to them. The money they give you for the tickets should be enough revenue without having to sell out to them to make them feel more comfortable in an enemy ballpark.

Frankly I don't want any opposing fans in the ballpark but you can't stop them from buying tickets so they have that right. What they shouldn't have the right to is to feel comfortable like they are in their own stadium. They need to know they are in enemy territory and need to be respectful of that.

what??????????????????????????????

Drew Forrester was talking about it in his blog. I know people hate WNST here, so I didn't want to provide the link. Read it again, it says they flashed the score for the Boston fans. So maybe they didn't show highlights.

Not sure if it's true or not, but still, this is pretty annoying if true.
