Machado doing what he needs to do to get a promotion?

From Rosenthal's column on Foxsports:

“He looks like a man playing with little boys,” the scout says of Machado, who does not turn 19 until July 6. “He can be in the big leagues in two years.
ORIOLES’ MACHADO: THE NEXT YOU-KNOW-WHO?

A scout who recently saw Orioles Class-A shortstop Manny Machado says, “Dare I say it? Maybe A-Rod.”

The comparison might be a stretch, but it’s only natural. Machado, like A-Rod, is 6-foot-3, a right-handed hitter and native of Miami. Both were first-round picks out of high school — A-Rod No. 1 in 1993, Machado No. 3 in 2010.

As for the scout, he couldn’t help but gush after seeing Machado recently hit home runs in three straight games. The scout says Machado has not only a tremendous swing, but also a 70 arm on the 20-to-80 scouting scale.

As a point of reference, ARod made it from high school to the majors in two years.

Show me where I said that they were. I was just talkign about all of the things he's currently going through. There is value in letting him get comfortable with a team before moving him.

Really? What is the value? I'm not trying to be dense, but maybe I am. :D

I am far from a specialist in the area of MiL player development, but I think this is correct. I think I'd rather have him bonding with Givens/Schoop/etc. and getting used to pro life in LoA than having him jump right away to a league where he will be even YOUNGER comparative to his teammates and competitors. There isn't going to be developmental stagnation due to an extra month or two in Delmarva. Let him get comfy, let him bond some with his teammates. If he is as good as he looks right now, he will have a chance to speed his progress later in the game.

I talked specifically to John Stockstill about Machado and promotion last night and will put it into my "Minor League Insider" piece that will published sometime today. I was actually a little surprised.
