Spinelli did not get the A&M job so he will join Turgeon at Maryland.

I was out of town for the weekend and didn't get to follow much news.....was Bino Ranson officially retained as an assistant? And what about the 3rd spot? Is Ehsan still a possibility, or his he likely headed to VA Tech? I think I heard the name of another Turgeon assistant at A&M that might come. I guess it's a near certainty that Keith Booth won't be back. With the A&M post filled, I would expect the rest of the UM staff to be named quickly.

I think I posted some tweets earlier in the thread, but I'm not sure how official things get with Assistants, but Chick Hernandez said his sources confirmed that Ehsan will not come back, but that Bino is in fact being retained. I doubt there will be a press release or anything like that on the news.

Not sure if the question has been asked yet... Are there any other A&M recruits that might move in this direction now that that Spinelli is not staying? I mean it seems that we have had our share of guys opt out. It would be nice to see Turgeon get a few more of his guys. Are there any of his other guys worth having?

Since assistants work under contract, and in this case are State employees, whether UM makes a press release or not it would be available to the public under FOIA. I would think with all the interest in the recruits, and which ones are tied to which former assistants, that the media will follow it. And that some announcement will be made either by UM or a media outlet, either as each coach is officially signed or when the entire staff is hired.

I gotcha. If I come across anything i'll post it. I just know that Hernandez, and I believe a couple other sources tweeted it over the weekend. Of course, Twitter is far from official, as we well know.

I'm very pleased with what Turgeon is doing, and it appears he is calling all the right shots. As well, I believe it only fair to give Kevin Anderson props for giving Turgeon the go-ahead to pay what it took to put this staff together.

Jay Bilas just wrote an Insider article on ESPN about the most underrated coaches in the game, here is what he had to say about Turgeon:

Mark Turgeon, Maryland: Turgeon has won at Wichita State and Texas A&M and will win at Maryland. He can X and O with anyone, but his greatest strength is his toughness and his will. Turgeon has many of the best attributes of Calhoun. Turgeon has the goods to be one of the best coaches in the game.
