The man sure does have a knack for completely misjudging the FA market and making poor signings. The good FA signings he's made have been few and far between.

Problem is, he is overpaying for below average FA talent. I am primarily speaking of the BP.

And he keeps spending money on ineffective relievers. For all the crap Flanny and Duquette got for that 42 million they spent, at least Bradford and Walker performed for most of their contracts. Gregg and Gonzalez have been disasters from Day 1.

By passing on Teixera, do you mean that he didn't offer an insane contract to land one player when the organization was more than one guy away? Teixera wasn't comng to Baltimore.... period. And we still submitted an offer.

I'm not saying that MacPhail is doing a great job. The Minors are a freakin disaster right now and the nepotism with his nephew is just sickening. The guy is incompetent... yet he keeps landing on his feet with his uncle at his side.

The bottom line is MacPhail is good for the bottom line. He is yet to sign an impact free agent and his Calvary arrived. He developed the arms, but buys his bats and bullpen arms at Walmart.

IIRC, he inherited a heck of a squad and basically didn't have to do a whole heck of a lot to build them.

The way our minor league system has deteriorated is inexcusable. That's the biggest failure of MacFail right now.

So, all I hear around here is Bullpen arms in FA are for the most part a crapshoot and people complain when we crap out. Come on. If Andy signs 3 guys off the scrap heap and they are horrible people would still be complaining about that too. Which I guess we did and you are(Rapada,Accardo,)
