We have the 4th pick in the draft and 6 days to go. We've had numerous threads mocking the draft, or mocking the O's board, but no threads specifically putting your personal preferences out there. I understand if Stotle doesn't post since he works for a ML team, but what is your top 4? Mine is:

1. Rendon

2. Cole

3. Gray

4. Jungmann

I've relented on Starling. I prefer a college arm but I don't love Hultzen or Bauer. Jungmann and Gray seem like better bets to dominate (#1/2 starters), whereas Hultzen and Bauer seem like better bets to achieve #2/3 status. Gray has some uncertainty around control, and that gives me pause, but his potential is incredible.

I honestly can't figure out what to do with Bundy. His helium is pretty darn intoxicating. I could easily justify him at #3 on the list, and expect many of you to do so, but I just don't want to forget about the uncertainty associated with high school arms when compared with greater certainty associated with the two college arms on my list. Conversely, I love the touchy-feely Bundy Bros. angle, and the fact that the O's know him and his family gives me comfort that they'd be drafting a known entity.

So, my four are up there, Bundy would be 5 and Starling 6, for me. It's an upside list, with college taken into account for Gray and Jungmann. If the O's take anyone outside of these 6, I'll be really disappointed.

What say you?

My opinion is so far from affecting our first pick that I might as well deliver the notebooks and pencils our higher level evaluators use. Assuming signability/medicals, Chris has my pref list 1-4.

Lol, I figured I'd give you an easy out if you wanted to take it.

Starling over the college arms surprises me some. Given the praise for Bundy, it speaks highly to just how good you think he could be.

Is his upside comparable to a Josh Hamilton type of player (speaking of when drafted)? Slightly below?

I see him more as a Carlos Beltran type. There is power, but it isn't 80 power like Hamilton.

    • Yeah, people are acting like the other wildcard teams are doing so amazing. Certain aspects of the collapse are humorous but some of these people are delusional and thinking we’re not gonna make the playoffs. Win three games you’re in
    • I threw out the names of Ron Washington/Dusty Baker initially as just the type of vet manager that we would go after being as they are the opposite of what we hired with Hyde. I think Hyde sticks, but it is concerning.  I don't blame him at all.  I think Hyde is one of the better managers in the business, and even Freddi Gonzalez has whatever "fire" that we may perceive that Hyde doesn't have.   The question is, has Hyde's message gotten stale?
    • I am sure that the struggles and playoff anxiety is working hand in hand with this collapse.  The team lost its youthful exuberance somewhere in the second 1/2 and they just can't find themselves.  Saying that, the pitching has been solid recently and all they need to do is win a few games to limp into the playoffs.   I'm hoping at that point they can take a deep breath and get back to that loose arrogance they had.  I think in this case being young may help them reset for the playoffs.
    • Also, a REAL cleanup hitter should be on the offseason shopping list.  Yesterday it was Kjerstad - potential for him in that spot but he's not ready for it.  Today its Cowser - I can't see him ever being a very good fit for that spot.  We don't have that guy unless Mayo really progresses, especially assuming that Santander leaves.
    • I’m saying the last 3 months the pitching was a bit worse and the offense was a bit better, but they have not been a good team.
    • Had we not made the trades we would not only had missed out on the playoffs for sure, but wouldn't have finished over .500.  So all things considered, even cost, the Adley/Gunnar years can't be just given away.  Hope we cling on and just get in.  Then anything can happen.
    • Yeah that's what I'm saying in my prior post.  On paper at the start of the year, we'd all have been pretty excited about that lineup other than the Westburg thing.  Yet here we are, basically feeling hopeless that we can beat a mediocre SF team.  Just a bizarre finish to the season, even factoring in the injuries.
