Well, no one saw this coming.

The question I have is where was this type of playcalling all year? Was the coaching staff not putting forth the effort or did they simply sell some of these kids short?

It's a damn shame b/c if they had done half of what their doing tonight, the Terps would have beaten Wake, UNC, UVA fairly easily and a solid bowl game would have been a certainty. Now they've got to win out vs. FSU, NC State.

42-21 drubbing of BC so far...where was this play calling all year...man this is just unreal

Looks to me like guys are just making the plays all the sudden. I haven't watched Ralph's MD teams all that much, but I know at GT his O looked just like this... but guys have to do things right for it to work.

How has Ralph done at recruiting skill guys since he's been there? I really don't know. I always wonder if really fat guys have trouble recruiting top-tier stars. How are Dad and Mom gonna react when a guy who looks like Ralph (or Charlie the ND guy) come in and plop their overly-blubberly selves down and take up half the dang couch? I wonder if they're thinking, "Do we really wanna trust our million dollar kid to this guy?"

Well, I dunno, on the other hand: mangino.jpg

and Kansas is undefeated.

The Terps have definitely had some great skills players. Vernon Davis and Heyward-Bey come immediately to mind.

Well, no one saw this coming.

Speak for yourself.

I have a friend who makes money off of games like this. He calls them "traps". He's taught me how to recognize them. A top-25 team goes on the road to play an opponent that is clearly inferior. Everyone expects, quite reasonably, the top-25 team to walk all over the inferior team.

And yet the line is "only" 6.5.

Why is the line "only" 6.5, he would ask? He would say that somebody knows something we don't, that there is a reason the line is only 6.5, and he would bet Maryland. And win more often than not. Reverse psychology.

I know little about college football, and BC could very well win in a blowout, but the discussion caught my eye so I thought I would mention it as food for thought.

The difference was clearly the O-line and the presence of blitzing (Finally)!! I do agree that Ralph opened it up a lot more tonight then he had been. I was really shocked at how well they were able top run the ball. This is a big win which I believe will spark them to win 3 straight! It was really nice to see old Maryland football again and a packed loud house!

Congrats! BC was overrated all year and now they've lost 2 straight!

I was hoping Maryland would pull off the upset but after VT's win against FSU I was absolutely exhausted and fell asleep at 10 PM so I forgot that game was being played. Wow...BC is who I thought they were , an average program!

I'm still waiting for the positive rep I deserve for predicting that Maryland would make it a game. :P

Everyone else thought they would get blown off the field, I thought they'd cover, and they won outright!!

I am still in a state of shock -- I didn't think Maryland would see the end zone at all last night.

So... where was this aggressive play calling all year? We've seen a couple of glimpses of it offensively this year. But I can't remember a time this year that the Terp's D ran that many stunts and Blitzes.

I'm beginning to wonder if they will actually get the call to a bowl game if they can somehow get one more win. Six is the minimum, but having two wins against top 10 teams is pretty huge.

Gotta give it up for DA TERPS!

Yes, I'm still shocked!

So it wasn't the injuries all along, but the playcalling. We saw what the offense could do if he called an aggressive game and let the guys try and execute.

We also saw what some guys could do if you let them play. Scott, that WR Lee, heck even Turner. Scott could be a difference maker if they EVER let him see the field. Turner can throw the ball if RF just trusts him enough to throw it downfield.

Help me out here: I haven't watched MD play much this year (in part because of the ACC's especially dumb TV polices). So I really don't know what they have and haven't been doing during the games. What I saw last night was O play calling that looked a lot like what Ralph did at GT: being ballsy, quick strikes, figuring out how to make the D run the wrong way, and relying on guys to actually make the plays. Is this somehow new this year? I just assume that if Ralph's team isn't putting up 40 points, then he just doesn't have the horses for it. What's he been doing, acting like Claiborne? Or what?
