Trading Adam Jones

I don't think we have to get a CF back in a trade for Jones. We need SP short term and long term more than we need 2 years of Jones. Teams that come to mind that might have interest are: KC, Cubs, Yankees, Philies(LF) Braves, Chisox, and possibly the Padres(San Diego homeboy)
I don't see us needing a CF back in return either. I'd probably be focused more on a TOR starter and some residual. I also think Jones would be a good fit as a corner OF for some teams as well. Seams there would be lots of teams, contender and non contenders, with interest. Rangers, Tigers, White Sox, Mets, Brewers, Blue Jays, Padres, Giants, Royals etc. off the top of my head. Lots of others I am sure.

Who plays CF then?

Don't say Pie or Angle as neither are full time players.

Hopefully, you get a CFer in another trade.

Or maybe you just let Pie have CF for the rest of the year and re-evaluate the position in the offseason.

Jones is a good player...but he is not a cornerstone, build around type guy.

Jones is as much of a 'face of the franchise' as Markakis at this point. He's not going anywhere unless some team gives up the farm.

What would the farm constitute in your opinion? For me, if a team jumps up and is willing to give us 2 Top 50 type prospects I think I'd have to make that deal. And for the record, I am a Jones fan.

Whoever. Probably a stop gap. Not like they're hard to find. There will be other trades. I'm not comfortable with Pie though. Last year I might have been.

Mets, Blue Jays, and Tigers, yay. Brewers, Giants, Rangers, nay, IMO.

Find another Jones in baseball.

Somebody with his skills, leadership ability, passion to win and that hasn't hit their peak yet.

You won't find many if any at all.

If Jones isn't a player to build around, nobody on our roster is. We can't just build around Matt Wieters.

You mention getting another CFer in another trade. Who and what would we trade to get one? CF is not a typical power position in baseball and position prospects there are just as rare as the other HTF positions.

Agree that neither of these guys are full time players, but we could use them until the end of the season. We are going nowhere in a hurry now, anyway.
Right. Why not give Felix 2 months to see what he can do with regular AB. We've nothing to lose but more games.

Jione has 2 years. Unless you can extend him for a reasonable price he's worth more in trade. I'd be surprised if he was willing to extend. You don't build around that kind of a player regardless of his "intangibles".

You pick the oddest players to fixate on.

Why? Farm systems not good?

The Rangers dropped Julio Borbon and have Endy Chavez in CF. He's tearing it up in a small sample size, but he's little more than a replacement player. I would think they'd be thrilled to get Jones.

The Brewers have Carlos Gomez in CF.

The Giants OF is horrible.

Agreed. If you were Jones, would you want to stay here? He's a west coast guy, and would likely look out there when free agency comes for him, anyway. He's a valuable commodity right now, and I think he'd be high on a lot of teams' list.

I think you can extend Jones for 5/60 with a mutal option for 15 million for a 6/75 possible contract.

Jonesy still likes it in Baltimore right now.
