Dan Klein to DL

Dan Klein, the organization’s second pick in the 2010 amateur draft and arguably the best pitching prospect in the Orioles’ farm system, has been shut down with a shoulder injury.

He is expected to be placed on the seven-day disabled list with bicipital tendonitis, basically a sore right shoulder.

Not good considering he had shoulder issues in College.

Is there some law against Orioles fans enjoying themselves in any manner? God, I am sick of bad news out of our farm system.

It's a broken record. (Wow, I realize that shows my age. People today won't understand what this means. It refers to a phonograph record - not a baseball record. A phongrph is a ... Oh well)

If his shoulder is having trouble holding up in these stints, does that end the experiment to stretch him out? I really like his stuff, but I like him even more in the pen. He could be a whole new kind of RP, one that keeps hitters off balance by having too much to think about instead of just trying to throw the ball by them and make them swing and miss at one pitch.

Kind of like Koji.

:) That's funny - you don't look 12 in your photo. Neither does the young lady dancing in front of you.

Haha, you'd be surprised at how prevalent vinyl is amongst young people these days. I bought the last Mastodon record on vinyl. It's pretty hipster.

Also the "I'm twelve" Internet meme has been my favorite thing to say recently :)

Praying this isn't serious..

It doesn't appear to be. He saw the doctor and he didn't think Klein needed an MRI, just rest. Obviously with a guy who has a previous injury history and a lack of innings it's a bit of concern, but hopefully nothing more then some strained muscles.

Well, that's good initial news. The problem with the O's is that the initial news always seems to be good, or not concerning.

I'm not exactly going to "breathe easy" over this just yet.

Well thats good. Not even a 'just in case' MRI. Hopefully hes back to normal before long.

So much for no MRI....

Double-A Bowie pitcher Dan Klein, a third-round pick out of UCLA last year, will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Monday when the Baysox return home.

Klein was officially placed on the seven-day minor league disabled list earlier today with tendinitis in his shoulder. He was shut down over the weekend, and a team official said the soreness continued today. The MRI was scheduled as a precaution.

The Orioles wanted Klein to pitch three innings in his next outing and move up to Triple-A Norfolk, but those plans were scraped.

It's interesting that Klein was about to move to AAA. Hopefully he gets over the soreness and we see him in Norfolk soon.
