Glad we didn't take Evan Beal

Recommended Posts

Evan Beal is a pitcher who was selected in the eighth round by Kansas City as im sure some of you know. He plays at South County High School which was the number one team in Virginia this year in AAA and are currently 27-0 and in the state semis. I play for Kettle Run High and we were a pretty darned good AA team but obviously not on the level of South County. But when they were I think 16-0 we faced them at their place and had them in the palm of our hands up 9-4. So of course we were all pumped and whatnot and we kinda rubbed Mr. Beal the wrong way. Being the great team they are, they came back and beat us 10-9 on walkoff homerun in last inning. Evan came out of the dugout and started talkin some serious smack and got up in our coaches face and called him a fatass and was screamin the F word at us this and that. Needless to say our teams almost brawled haha. The kid is a real D-bag and im sure glad we didn't draft him haha. Just felt like sharing. :thumbsup1:

Beal's brother was in this draft too? Sounds like he is a d-bag, but who hasn't said things they regret in the heat of competition? It would have been cool to have two brother-brother combos in the minors

Don't forget Zach Britton's brother is in the O's minor leagues as well.

South County is right down the street from me. I was hoping they did take him. I bet if you're team held on, you'd wish they did draft him, so you could say that you beat him.

I'm assuming he didn't pitch that game. (?) Did he play a position other than pitcher?

EDIT: I see that you are in Warrenton. Is Kettle Run a fairly new high school? I remember Fauquier County and Liberty opened when I was in high school. How many high schools does the county have now?

Yea the game was an out of district game so they didn't pitch Evan. Yea Kettle Run opened in 2008 so Fauquier County now has 3 high schools.

Let me start off by saying I'm friends with the beal brothers (I was actually with both of them last night). Evan is not a bad person. He is, however, a high school senior and lets his emotions take over. I know when I played for Robinson a couple years ago (graduated 07) I got heated on the field and said some things I shouldn't have. He will mature and learn to control his emotions on the field. Those are two kids you don't need to worry about, although I'll say Jesse is less emotional than Evan.

Some stuff on Evan...

Would love to have Evan because he is thinner than Jesse was at the same age... and his fastball is slightly ahead of Jesses pace already. And from what they were saying last night he is looking at later compensation round/2nd round money. KC is really shelling out the big bucks for him. He would have been a great pickup if we could have paid less for him.

Hey man I didn't mean to put down your friend like that because obviously I don't REALLY know him I was just drawing from that one experience that we had with him. We also played your Robinson Rams this year btw. We won 4-2 I think.
