Orioles President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail was also asked about his expiring contract after the season. He gave a typical MacPhail response.

"I have always taken the position, unlike one my good friends in the game Jim Riggleman, let's just see how we do," MacPhail said. “Let's get to the end of the year and see how we do and take it from there.”

I don't think he plans to return...Just a hunch though.

I agree, I think you are going to see a 2006 version exit of the MacPhail era in Baltimore...

I will be shocked if he isn't back.

I think Angelos will want him back, but he'll leave on his own accord because he knows he can no longer be a GM and needs to pursue other opportunities.

I hope to God we dont get Hart as the GM. Get someone young and progressive, not another retread who makes stupid deals and gives out dumb contracts.

Wasn't there some buzz a few years back about MacPhail being the next commisioner? I know that sounds a little far out but something in the back of my mind.....

I said it before, and I'll say it again... I have been told that he 'probably' won't be back, no matter what happens with the commissioner's position.

One more year until Cal's kid is out of school. What exactly happens at that point, I am not sure. But,Andy is here until then. Besides, who ya gonna get? Buck isn't leaving that dugout until he has a winner.

Besides, who ya gonna get?

John Hart or Brian Cashman. And Cal wouldn't be a GM, he'd be more like Ryan - a team president type of figurehead or he'd be part of the ownership group.
