He isn't really that bad defensively at all.

Its a mental, defensive slump.

Regardless of what you think it is...his defense is actually at the point of offsetting his offense.

Ideally you flip Vladdy somehow, and you put Reynolds at DH where he can't hurt you defensively.

I don't care what it is. He needs to get his head screwed on straight because he is hurting this team.

18 errors in ~70 games. Really, REALLY hurting this team. This is a guy who was supposed to be a 3.0 WAR guy, and right now he's practically worth zilch.

He seems to be thinking too hard out there. He's not a great 3B, but he shouldn't be this bad, based on his track record.

He's like a wide receiver in football that is wide open, and forgets to catch the ball because he's thinking about running for extra yardage after the catch. On numerous occasions this season, Reynolds has taken what would have/should have been a sure out, and compounded the situation by trying to do too much (thinking about a possible double play when he should make sure that we get at least one out, looking the runner back to third base on a ground ball and then losing his concentration and making a wild throw to first, etc).

I am not disagreeing with this..I am just saying that there is no need to move him off third or anything like that.

BTW, I didn't see it but I heard Palmer comment on the first error and say that it wasn't really an error.

That's the same thing they said on the radio broadcast.

I am not saying he is Brooks or anything, but he makes alot of plays that some 3B does not make. If I had to bet money, I think he will get his defense straightened out. He may end up being only average, but with the offense that would work.

Well, Palmer was wrong. The ball pulled Davis off of the bag. If the ball was on the mark, i think it would have been close but he would have been out. Oh yeah, and he had a hard time getting the ball out of his glove.

Clear error in my mind

Ehhh, tough to say. History says he won't. Last year was his only positive defensive year.

Both those plays were errors. Period.

does pan out, because his bat is pretty

It is hard to tell when most of the games I catch on the radio, also maybe a little wishful thinking about him being around average at the end.

Still, I hope it does pan out because his offense could be so good. I wonder if he could handle 1B, because they could then try and expand trades for a 3B? It seems when DLee was out they could have explored this option, and stuck Andino at 3B, atleast for a couple of games.

You are taking our worst defensive player and putting him at first, a position where he would get more chances? No thanks.
