Matusz pitching tonight for the Tides

wildcard

Recommended Posts

He's keeping his pitch count super low: 38 pitches, 27 strikes through four innings.

4.1 innings - 44 pitches, 30 strikes now.

That's the BMat we know and love.

Note: I only use BMat because it's ridiculously stupid. I in no way support this as a real nickname.

That's kind of like me calling him "Mat-Dog" -- It makes no sense. Through five, just a hit, one walk now and four K's. 50 pitches and 31 strikes. Wish milb.com did velo's on their Gameday, curious to see if it is actually 87-91 like the MASN reports were stating.

He is commanding his pitches nicely and his change-up is working. Can't judge the velo on MiLB.TV. Doesn't look overpowering, just changing the eye level and hitting his spots, which is at least more than you could say about his limited time with Baltimore.

Some will say there is no reason to rush him, but I hope the next start is with Baltimore. He is healthy, made the mechanical adjustment needed, and looks ready. Time to get Major League hitters out.

How about he put two good starts together in the minors first ;)
