Wade Davis Today

In today's D-Rays-Athletics game, Wade Davis gave up 5 runs in the first one-third of an inning. Bad day, right ??? Not necessarily. Davis proceeded to retire the final 17 batters that he faced today ........ the final 2 batters of the 1st inning, and then every Athletics batter in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th innings. Not only that, but he threw strikes ........ he had 6 strikeouts and didn't walk any batters on the day. For his gutty effort, Davis was rewarded with his 8th win of the season, as his offense came storming back to score 10 runs in 3 innings (the 6th,7th,and 8th) for a 10-8 D-Rays victory.

A testament to hanging in there when things are tough, and throwing strikes and making the other team beat you (as opposed to giving them base-runners and runs with walks).
