He's definitely having a career year. Tied for lead in HR, 2 back in RBI, and .13 back in AVG. I guess he has a very outside shot at 40/40 too. He's doing it all this year.

I would run every time on base. Especially against a poor defensive catcher.

With a week to go, Kemp is third in the NL in average (.326, four points behind Ryan Braun and three short of Jose Reyes), second in homers (36, one behind Albert Pujols) and first in RBIs (118, five up on Ryan Howard). He's also leading the sport in rWAR (1.1 wins ahead of Jose Bautista) and third in fWAR (8.2, half a win behind Jacoby Ellsbury and .1 behind Bautista).

Decent year, I'd say. Pretty cool if he was able to win the Triple Crown.

If both Kemp and Kershaw had run off and joined a cult in late March the Dodgers would be something like 61-94.

Or maybe this is a good Trea-ean exercise. Add the two best players in the National League to the Orioles and you're still just a .500 team.

I think I read the other day that no non-playoff team has ever had both the CY and the MVP. However I can't find the article with that information so I could be remembering incorrectly.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Spy Fox is right. There haven't been all that many Cy Young or MVP winners from sub-.500 teams, so it would be remarkable for two of them to coincide.
