Has Reimold done enough for you to give him the LF job next year?

  1. 1. Reimold for 2012 Lf

    • Yes give him the job and see if he can do it.
    • No get something in free agency.
    • Keep Reimold as DH and find another LF.

He's done enough to earn regular at-bats next year. I'd still look to upgrade LF and have Nolan mixing in at LF and DH. I would rather give the playing time to Reimold than someone like Cuddyer, but if we can trade for someone younger I'm not saying that Reimold is entrenched in a starting spot.

If we trade Jones then CF becomes the upgrade priority and Reimold probably ends up with more playing time.

It really depends what we can get this offseason. At LF, 2B, 1B, 3B, and SP positions we need to get the best players possible. If we can upgrade in other areas then I don't mind letting Reimold get a chance at LF. Honestly though, I wonder if he has any trade value. I'd like to throw him in as a chip in a trade for a TOR starter.

I'd let him play LF and/or DH depending on what else they do.

They aren't going to make the playoffs or anything next year so why not give him a chance rather than sign some guy for millions who may be a little better, but could end up worse like Vlad this year.

.

I pointed out in another Reimold thread that Nolan has nearly tied his career highs for HR's and RBI's in a season in 114 fewer plate appearances than when he set them in 2009. Yes, I understand that there are a lot of other aspects to the game for a potential starting left-fielder besides HR's and RBI's, but to me, this is pretty damned impressive.

2009: HR 15 RBI 45 PA 411

2011: HR 13 RBI 43 PA 297

No answer fits my preference, so I'm not voting.

I prefer something that's unbelievable (e.g., Trea's plan) in which case Reimold should be traded for a bullpen arm, or my actual preference which is to blow this thing up again and build a team on OBP and defense. Under that plan, Jones, Kakes, Hardy and either Reimold or Reynolds would be traded, with the one of Reimold/Reynolds that isn't traded being slated as DH.

I don't want either of Nolan or Reynolds seeing the field.

I'm willing to throw him out there for 3 months to see what he does as a full time LF.

But I wouldn't hesitate to acquire a better LF should the opportunity present itself.

And I don't see anyone I prefer in the FA market unless the Orioles decide to spend huge money to try and win in 2012 in which case, Beltran would make sense.

Note: I have no desire to acquire an expensive 35 year old OF unless 2012 (via some form of voodoo) projects as a playoff team with him in the lineup.

I'd rather see Reimold as trade bait. We've been down this road before and he can't be counted on.

WHY, Why always with the calls for trades when a player's value is at an all time low? We couldn't get anything for him right now. It would most likely just be a swap for another guy that a team has no room for. We wouldn't be getting back any value right now.

We could use him in a package deal.

Besides, haven't we learned that sometimes the value of a player can go down and it's better to trade them before that happens?

How much lower can his value get? We might have been able to get something a couple of years ago but now....

You can't believe what you just wrote and that it applies to this situation.
