We shall see...I was actually thinking the same thing.

A lot of the guys they have mentioned have done a lot internationally.

Has Buck convinced him that he needs to do this?

I think what's been lost in all the Buck-puppet, co-GM talk over the past months is that Showalter is an intelligent baseball mind. We've been painting him as being controlling (a valid concern), but maybe it's actually yielding something positive?

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Angelos has been swayed. As you said, pretty much every candidate has held some position dealing with international scouting.

Please don't feed the Trea.

I don't think it's that farfetched. We know PA respects Buck's opinion.

Logan White is another good name. Don't know DeJon Watson.

Reagins did some good things in Anaheim and would essentially be in the same, the manager is the GM situation that he was in before. Would he want that again?

Would like to see Hahn interviewed as well.

Yeah, he's definitely a good GM prospect and worth an interview.

Of course it's early and I expect to be let down in the end, but I am a little encouraged by these lists.

Roch chimes in:

So it sounds like JP is the last resort.

Byrnes wasn't going to take this job, he's happy where he is right now and he might even be in consideration for BOS if they don't go with Cherrington like I heard. I have my doubts if Levine would take it either, he signed an extension recently, and I think he'll wait for a more promising opportunity.

I have absolutely no doubt that the permission requests and interviews will get done quickly. Buck is likely in charge of that process. The DECISION, however, is what I fear will be dragged out. Angelos will have to sign off and it takes him foooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Buck's comment about the Jay's work in Venezuela late in the season offered a ray of hope that we might get more serious in the international market. As Tony says "actions speak louder than words." We'll be doing a lot of speculating but we won't know things have changed until we see actual results.

So Theo leaves 2 days ago and the Sox announce his successor. Meanwhile, the Orioles are making a liost and checking it twice, even though they should have known for 6 months that MacPhail wasn't coming back.

Yeah...gonna be a great offseason again!

    • So since Westburg is apparently still ROY eligible, Cowser and Westburg may project to be the best rookie combination since Fred Lynn and Jim Rice in 1975?
    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
