OK, most of the people responding called the trade absurd. But this kind of belies the idea that Markakis has no trade value. Also, reading the responses, many people commented that Nick is the better defender -- despite what UZR has to say.

Yes, absolutely.

Nick's contract is an issue moving forward. Swisher would be gone after 2012 while we owe Nick $30 million for 2013 and 2014.

Obviously we would all make this trade. (Well, everybody but Cindy.) I just thought it was interesting that this was even being proposed on a Yankee blog. As I said, most replies gave the idea the short shrift it deserved.

Pete Angelos wouldn't either. No way he signs off on that trade. A deal like that has to go through him.

Nick Markakis is no longer the 2008 version and that's how he's going to be paid for 2013 and 2014.

That money could be better allocated.
