Seems odd. There's no reason for him to have been removed from the 40-man at this stage. That comes several weeks from now.

Possible, but I remember a special segment with him earlier in the year specifically talking about how much he liked the O's and actually felt like part of the team. Said he didn't like things as much in Cinci.

I would like to see the Orioles sign a guy or two to minor league deals with a spring training invite and let everyone (Joseph included) fight it out for the back-up spot.

Oh, me too, but if Joseph is in a close competition with veterans, I would rather let Joseph come up and learn how to be the backup, cause that is what he is going to be. I am worried he will turn into Eli Whiteside, not a good catcher, but a nice backup that we just cut bait with.
